Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I have a huge hatch due next week. Vaccinated chicks available on Wednesday, 4/7. I can ship if you get enough chicks to maintain warmth this time of year (estimate 20 to 25). For people in this group, they are priced low enough you could sell half and make some money, if you want. PM me if you are interested.
How does that work? Do I just go into my local TSC and ask if they want legbar chicks? I have three feedstores 1/2 hour from me......

Feed stores don't deal with local breeders, only large hatcheries. I was thinking posting an ad on your local Craigslist or local chicken group on Facebook.
You should setup a brooder and keep them until they sell. Since probably no one in your area has most of these, you could ask for good prices to cover your time arranging the sale and brooding/feeding them.
Breeds I expect to have a lot of:
Marans, Lavender and Blacks
Ameraucanas, Lavender and Blacks
Olive Egger females (autosexing)
Cream Legbar females
Cochin bantams, Lavender and Blacks, about 50% will be frizzles

Of course, I'm not sure yet what will hatch.

I put the cage out in the rain, hoping it would clean the yuck off. So far, I think I should’ve cleaned it yesterday when it was warm. I need to get the broody out of the nest boxes! Last night I was still getting eggs at seven (or was it 8). Anyway... the broody is in her box, and was actually growling while I was in there. She’s been entertaining me for a few days with her behavior. While I was feeling under her, she was attacking my hand. So, I put scratch in one hand, and felt around with the other. :highfive: Less force with that kind of pecking.

Don't tempt me! ;) If I get any more we will need another coop. I'm still trying to convince my husband lol
YOu would be amazed at how many you can squish in! My coop was built for four....I added another roost and every night I pick up the shy girls from the nest boxes and put them on a perch--they won't go that close to my meanies on their own!

I reeeeeeally wanted her to settle a week or two ago.

So, what are the chances of her taking the chicks this weekend? I’m guessing it won’t happen, but if I get her to settle in the cage tomorrow, is it worth trying?
Definitely worth trying, many of ours will take chicks if they have reared a hatch before and been sitting more than a week. A few are stubborn and prefer 2+ weeks and some take chicks after only a few days.

Those colors, omg! What kind is that?
Silver pencil Plymouth rock (SPR) . Quality strain which tend to be broody nuts from our coops. I think we currently have 5 SPR, 1 white Rock and 1 cochin mix (who is 9 yr old super hen) sitting. We have eggs in the incubator to give them each 2 or 3 chicks. The SPR will probably raise theirs as a group which they normally do. We have a current group of 3 (2 SPR and 1 barred rock) raising chicks, but they just graduated to a lower shelf so the broody hut in our people area of the coop will be available, for the next group.
