Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I have 4 muscovy hens, all over a year old now, and none show the slightest inclination to go broody. I made them an awesome nest, but they ignore that and only lay in the plain nestbox I put inside for the guineas (who only lay on the floor anyway).
Seem I have defective muscovies . . .
Uh, oh... you broke them!

@dheltzel I can lend you a broody for your ducks. I have a banty cochin from you, a blue marans from you, and an olive egger (2nd generation of ones from you) all sitting on infertile eggs. It seems like such a waste.
I have lots of broody chickens. I doubt any would do well hatching muscovies though. Muscovies are low value around here, so I'm not too worried about not getting many more babies. Their eggs are excellent for eating.

The lilac bush the animals all love is dead. The original part I mean. A lot is now cut/broken out, but some dead/near dead branches remain because the hole was getting bigger and bigger. Some more suckers will be moved into the middle before they too are pulled up. I really don’t think I knew I have blackberries, but after all these years, I could have just forgotten. There are some in the lilac bush with some wild strawberries. That helps explain why the rabbits prefer it for shelter over the other hiding places. The rest of the berries are near some mint.
I keep seeing pictures of broodies from last summer. It’s odd not having poultry, but it’s been a crazy year.

Time for another photo op to flood the thread.... heat of summer has taken us to outside activities, my participation has been more limited than in the past due to R/A still not cooperating with meds but doing ok for a couple hours at a time. Feels good to be out with the critters and feeling productive though.
Seeing bear sign every day on our woods walk, thankfully it doesn't hang out in our immediate area during the day.
Found some Reichi mushrooms, unfortunately not enough to pick, I only found a few and don't want to eliminate the local population, maybe there will be more next year. It is good for medicinal use as an arthritis treatment.

Worked on mowing at our barn property and my Mom's 13 acres... she gas finally moved back to her place after her stroke nearly 2 years ago and is happy and doing well but some stuff she still needs help with. DH and I had to do a fuel system overhaul on her small tractor but now it is back to running well. I mowed the first 3 hrs to take care of the risky hill stuff and complicated parts but she finished off the last parts and was happy to be doing it herself.

To be continued....

Don't remember if I posted this pic before...the birds like to follow me for first part of our walk, till they get distracted with grass foraging...

Had 3 giant stumps dug out of yard, then I worked to get it manicured... and of course after I spread old manure on it the dogs decided it was the bestest place to lay! :sick
