Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello Pennsylvania friends I am looking for fertile Turkey eggs as close to Lackawanna county as I can get. I would prefer to pick-up but shipping is my last resort.
I just want a Dual purpose breed not looking for any color in particular mixed is fine too.

I'm in Cambria County. A couple of my girls started laying last week. I'm not sure if the eggs are fertilized yet or not though. I'm setting the first batch this Friday so I'll find out in a couple weeks.

I'm looking for eggs for April (after the Easter hatch) so plenty of time I'm putting feelers out and it gives me time to save up LOL

Hi! I'm located a little north of Reading, in Berks County. If that's close enough, I should have some. Only problem is, I'm not sure when! I got them in August so I don't know their laying habit yet. I have Bourbon Red, Narragansett, Midget White and Standard Bronze (heritage breed, not broad breasted) The Narragansett is female and one Bourbon is female, so they could be a mix of all of them with possibility of pure Bourbon. I can keep you posted if interested.

As long as the girls are all laying well then, that should work. 2 of my hens are 8 years old this year but they have younger "sisters" too. I have bronze, blue, penciled, and Bourbon red hens. Toms are mottled black, penciled, and Rusty slate.

The boys, Rusty (rusty slate), Phil (penciled) and Romeo (mottled black)

The majority of the girls. Don't mind the mud. It's almost uncontrollable. We lost Princess last fall (royal palm) but there's Baby (penciled), Nibbles (white penciled), Cynthia (Bourbon red), Lil (penciled), Pebbles (bronze), and Sweet Pea (red bronze). The blue girls weren't added yet.

I have plenty, but Marans make good flock protectors, so you might mention that when advertising them. Of course they also make good "roasters", so if you want them to not be eaten, it could be tricky finding them a home.
The Bucks Country Facebook page is pretty active and there are people in that group that take roosters. One place is called "Last Chance Ranch".

A lot of people in Montco with Copper Marans got them as chicks from me, but these look different than my line, so I suppose they are hatchery chicks. Did you get some pullets as well?

Thanks, okay I'll try that fb page too. I did get them from a hatchery. 3 straight runs, one pullet.

At this point, I start to think Water's wry neck is caused by Marek. There's no improvement of her twisted neck for several weeks, and she lost balance a lot and mostly only eats when I hand feed her. She acts just like my Silked feathered ameraucana pullet Candy, who died from Marek. Candy never had wry neck, but other symptoms are the same. Water is vaccinated, but the vaccination doesn't work 100%. After I handled she everyday, she becomes a lap chicken now, while she was the only skittish chick in this batch. It's so sad that I cannot really help her. I have vitamin E enough for a horse in their feed every day, it didn't help at all. This is what I added to their fermented feed. It smells horrible, so I have to ferment it with their feed.

So sorry to hear that the Selenium and vitamin E didn't work. I lost 2 grown hens to illness this summer, as well as some young pullets and just last week one of my favorites just flat out disappeared. I assume it was a hawk -- she was my smallest (a Mille Fleur D'Uccle.). I am rather heartbroken with all the losses. Mine all have names and are considered family members.

I personally am not seeing a different loss (from disease) ratio between the Marek vaccinated and the unvaccinated ones. Maybe I have something else going around.
