Since I'm in it for the eggs, I'm thinking leghorns or Rhode Island Reds. Maybe Sex-Links. Leaning towards the Reds, since Leghorns are kinda boring to look at. Any egg laying powerhouses that I can get locally. I'll be ready around late Feb, early March. I'd like to just start with hens, instead of chicks, pullets would be ok too. Preferably some hens that were together already, so they'll get along. I guess around that time, maybe somebody here can steer me to a local place with a few hens for sale. I usually see them on craigslist for sale also.

Keep me in mind,,, I've got Black Star sexlink pullets, RedStar sexlink, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Gold Laced Wyandotte, Black Cochin , Buff Orpington,, and Marans Pullets,,,, many of them are housed together,,,, all pullets that have just started laying..... start your own Rainbow of egg layers.....LOL

Are the Andalusian cold hardy being from Spain/Mediterranean? They are very beautiful birds..

..really enjoy seeing blues and lavenders..

They are cold hardy meaning they are okay with the cold weather, I only have hens of that breed. I might have to Vaseline them once or twice a week, just the combs. That's just to prevent frostbite, there combs are huge! The ones in the pic are only pullets. They get to 4-5 lbs. They need to free range, don't do good with confinement all the time. My whole flock goes out for 6 hours a day. I plan on buying hatching eggs when my source gets there breeding pens up and running.

So I feather Sexed my baby and if I did it right, it's in fact a GIRL!!!

Since she is only 24 hours old, she can easily be sexed. She has the two rows of feathers!

So now, I need to see what we are going to name her! Wahoo!!!

I just wanted to clarify real quick Negro's name is not (knee-grow) LOL! It's (Neh-Gro) the color black. We are not racist. LOL!! My friend who is in an interracial relationship was making fun of me on FB and I was like, OMG! LOL!! So I just wanted to make sure you all knew we love our Multi-cultural family! LOL!!

Isn't Negro Spanish for the color black?
