As I mentioned before, I got a couple different colors from different sources, and got them separated last weekend. The cuckoo girls hatched in March had just started laying a few weeks ago, gorgeous dark eggs. I hadn't gotten them separated into breeding pens yet and they're part of the free range group that lays in the nest boxes in the big chicken house (aka an old trailer) either that whole group is hiding eggs, or they've quit laying, cause we've been eggless for 5 days. There was one egg in the pen of blues this morning, and two in the pen of black coppers. They're all disappointingly light colored. I'm pretty bummed.

We got quite a few of those when the girls first started laying. Have a friend who has been eating "natural" for years, gave him a dozen...and he said he'd NEVER had a double yolker before!
