One day, and I am already antsy. I really thought I would be a calm hatcher (beyond the whole "what can go wrong, will" thing).

OH you poor thing! you need to knit a sweater or a straight jacket because I know your gonna be a candling every day!

I don't know how to knit!

And I am not candling until next week. Are you TRYING to tempt me?

I am not touching them until I must.
Have my fellow Western Pennsylvanian chicken mommas heard that the cicada are supposed to hatch this year?! I'm so excited.

I raise meal worms for the girls to have in the winter since everything is frozen here in the winter so knowing that the cicada are coming is great! I've read posts from ppl out west who gather grasshoppers when they swarm and freeze them.

Better believe I'm gonna have some containers of cicada in the freezer for this winter. The girls are gonna be soooo happy!

But ... But ... But isn't it mean to freeze the grass hoppers to death?
Seriously, I love the idea. I just don't know if I could do it. Then there is the obvious problem. Grass hoppers all over the house!

Do I bring in the chickens or the toads?

I have a duckling bleeding still in the shell.. What do I do to help stop it.. It's bad....

ummmm, Sally?!

If I have a chick that's bleeding while hatching, I put triple antibiotic ointment (without pain reliever) where the blood is. It stops the bleeding, and keeps that area moist and pliable for easier hatching, then I pop the chick back in the bator.
