Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

So since we have so many seasoned hatchers in here, i thought i would share this here.

I am trying to compile a list of pro's - con's of different incubators. I will compile everything and publish to a page to hopefully help newbie hatchers like my self to make the best decision as to what incubator they want/need. here is the thread i started for this. I hope it is in the right place...

If there IS already a page like this one, please let me know. I don't want to take someone’s idea. So please, just take a few minutes and tell me what works for you.
Thanks in advance for your participation!!

I had a little bit of a scare. Yesterday, while I was working on my coop, I heard a weird coughing type noise. I couldn't figure which one it was they all looked healthy. I have regularly cleaned the coop, no moisture. This morning I was back again, working on the coop when I heard that strange noise. So I stopped. I went over and sat in front of them and watched them to see which one was coughing. I had heard of whole flocks dying due to a cold type cough. I waited and saw "Big Sammy" my largest leghorn rattle his wings. He was learning how to crow! It was so cute and funny. That means I have to move faster and get them down the valley away from my neighbors quickly!
Here is a video of them looking at themselves on video.

Dang...what do you do with so many chicks!!

I am hatching for myself and for the June 8th swap in Sharpsburg, MD. Most are supposed to be for the swap, but I think I am keeping most of them.

The propane brooders are meant to heat a large floor area at once. The birds can move closer or further away as needed. These are probably from commercial broiler or turkey barns where they have 1000's of chicks that are the same age. Too much for most of us, but not for Sally, or Wingstone or SilkieSensation, said the pot about the kettle.

I saw propane heaters went for $12 each at a local auction. I am afraid to use them, so I passed them up. They were a bit older, too.

Kinda sorta. There is a list of incubators in with the chicken breeds ratings. They rate everything.

Ray:

Got an error on your video...

Geez:

Well, my girls have only been 'free ranging' for two days and they've already found a small gap in the fencing around the garden...most of the time they wander around for an hour and head back to the coop for a nap...and they do like hanging out under the lilac bush....
