Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

since you subtracted 2 does that mean you can add 5 ???
dorkings and iowa blues were both on my long list, not sure why  chose not to have them part of the 4 breeds.

5 what?

  i shouldn't say this, most of you allready think I am nuts....but hubby swears that if you pee around the perimeter of the garden, then the rabbits will stay out.....I think he is just to lazy to go any farther..

My ex always peed in our garden...I swear we had the biggest plants...and no issues with rabbits.

So sorry!  :hugs   That sucks...
I didn't know you had dorkings?  :love
heritage?  where did you get them from?
Dorkings are on our list also!  Definitely want a few of those birds to add to our self sustaining flock project...
Also watching for cornish...
and once we get through with our meaties and the Black Giants are in with the laying flock we will look into LF Cochin for broodies.

Not heritage. I got them from Knisleys, who used umm....crap, I forgot which hatchery..but it's not ideal or mcmurray

As for the hair, yes, it helps for deer, I'm told. Put it in an old nylon, about baseball size and hang them around the area. I've seen it done on fruit trees.

Well, I certainly shed enough....and when step-daughter shaves the boys heads...well that's plenty of hair!

I have 3 roos, 7 weeks old that are available for free if any one wants them. If you are close to me, I will even drop them off!

2 blue copper marans and 1 welsummer.

Here are the pics of the marans, the first is more blue and the second is more black.

I don't have a current picture of the Wellie Roo, but I can post one if you are interested.
Would love 1 if there's any way to combine picking him up with my trip to get my geese from Rey on the 11/12th of May. The lighter boy would go great with my little pullet.

Has anyone used (and had success with) human hair clipping around the outside of their run to help detour predators and deer? My dad said they would use it on his grandparents' farm around the coop, and the house garden to keep deer away, but doesn't remember how well it worked. I have several friends who do hair so getting enough hair isn't an issue (I'll probably mix dog hair in with it), I just wonder if it'll really be worth the time and effort. Thanks in advance
Haven't tried hair but human urine is supposed to work well.

Nope, not nuts. Grandpa does this too.

Hmmmm...hairballs around the garden. Wonder if it would keep the deer from eating everything.

I've heard that too, also heard that a woman's during ovulation can attract bucks during rut. I know my fiance and son are lazy...

If that's the case, then I have a husband, and 2 sons that should pretty much have my entire yard rabbit proof!!

The rabbits tease the dogs here, they will literally run back and forth just out of the dogs' reach. Picture a 100 lb lab and 25 lb beagle running back and forth on their leads trying to catch a rabbit simply because it's running, for anywhere from a few minutes to almost an hour. The wild turkeys are the funniest, they'll come up and take turns stealing any food they can get to.

Hey all:

Just found a potential solution to fox/raccoon issues....its coyote urine. i'm going to give it a try....my only doubt is that my dogs have marked the entire yard and that didn't stop them...anybody ever try this?
I've heard of it working on the smaller predators, but we haven't tried it. I'm worried it might draw the ones around here in to "check out" the new coyote.

Been lucky, so far they haven't come near the house, hoping it stays that way.

Thank you I was trying to figure out how to keep it from blowing all over.

Remember old pregnancy tests? I think it will work.
I actually heard about that. My dad said that's how his gram checked her daughters each month...
