Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Stress can cause picking, plus I have seen stronger birds pick weaker ones just because they seem to know they ARE weak. Also, if any were sore, red or had any bleeding from the vent caused by the illness it would have started the picking just from that. Sometimes they will even pick chicks who start to get pasty butt thinking it's food stuck to their butts.

Since spraying with blu-kote, there is no more picking - thankfully. There are a lot of obvious sick chicks since the Vicks and Oxine treatment. I hope that means it's working.

Anyone know how well magnets would work for securing a pop door? Like the ones that hold cabinet doors closed? And can they be used when wanting to open and close the door from outside of the run? Thanks.

Magnets hold all sizes of mailbox lids closed. And they open the opposite way a pop door does.

One man's trash...

we did not finish the run for the bantys, so we improvised:

I'm not sure what you mean JoanO. I've never seen a mailbox with a magnetic lid. My main concern is the chickens bumping it open after being closed in for the night. Even though the run will be well secured we still have lots of predators that may find their way in and I don't want them to have easy access to a chicken buffet.

I found a local craftsman who builds these coops for $385! Perfect for my own personal layer flock.

Now THAT is nice
