the hatching addiction must be like an alcohol addiction,,,if you think you can hatch just once you are only fooling yourself.....

i turned incubators off on new year's day and they remained off till those call duck eggs,,,,they have not been turned off since then,,after them more duck eggs and serama eggs for hubby and different duckie breeds for me, and i just bid on bresse eggs both white and black,,,,,,they may never be turned off again.

..how long can you safely keep eggs??, I do put mine in the fridge & date them. Iv'e seen people keep theirs on the counter...I just can't do that

I swear I'm turning mine off. I had nine hatch yesterday and over night waiting for one more. I'm liking the lemon orp over blue and black, interesting colors. I think I might have enough Swedish Flower Hens for the time being. Time to let some grow out and see what I have.

Only way I'll turn th Bator on is if I decide to! Lol (or if I can find some local bourbon red Turkey eggs)

Layer mash from Sunday's Mill. After next weekend when I'm in NJ for Relay for Life (note..my sis is team captain...and since she FINALLY had the baby via c-section on Friday night, she obviously won't be up for staying....so take a wild guess who is now in charge??, Oh and BTW...my chickens aren't laying!!!) I will start making Fermented Feed with it again. They also get all our leftovers, and on occasion when I'm in the store and a bag or box of salad is marked down to $0.99 they get that as well. All the egg shells they want, all the worms, bugs, grubs they can find outside along with any tasty plants they decide on (note, mine don't eat dandelions!)

I dont mind it. I have to bring the goose and 3 duckling friends in my room every night or she screams allll night long. Patches makes super smelly poops!

I put them outside to get clean/get fresh air. Then DH said they're not coming back in, so I put them in the little coop inside the big coop. Duck started pulling feathers under it for them (funny since they are up in the air). So I think this will work out.
