i forget what Walter Nolt charges but I think it's about $1.40/per bird.
I have Bantam Cochin Pullet chicks. They are pretty sweet and I'm close to you. I'm happy to show you my coops and the eggs that they lay. Oh, and GLW= Gold Laced Wyandotte
Unbelievable! Great shot.
I would love to see your chicks! Where are you located? I am in Wayne -Lisa

Hey Wing… are you busy?

No goat babies yet…. apparently my does are sticking to the 'Doe Code'. We weighed the goats today. One pregnant doe is 65 pounds the other is 72? I wrote it down somewhere. Our unbred girl (Candy), who is the teeniest thing, is 40 lbs. YAY! Candy, is without a doubt, the best papered doe we have, and the oldest. But she was just so teeny, we held off breeding her till next year. Looks like all the extra sweet feed and grain coming her way is helping bulk her up. I'm simply tickled! Now if those babies would just Hurry Up!

Yes, peas from my garden, very yummy! And the storm is passing over here right now. Looks like there is more to come, still out west.

The nursing home my DH's aunt is in burned down tonight. A group of teens taking a class next door saw the flames around 7:20, and one ran into the center knocking on doors and carrying people out. Everyone got out, but the roof collapsed, and the place is a loss. I hope someone got the finches out!
I am wondering why we were not called yet. I guess we will be called in the morning. I feel for the people that don't know that their loved ones are okay.
Please take this the right way, but she had an antique stool with her. It was from the early 1800's. I hated bringing it in there. It is just an object though. I will go through her remaining clothes here. Will the insurance cover the cost of new clothes? And where can I find clothing for a 4'8" woman that wears a size 8-10 pants?

That is horrible. Glad she is okay. I would suggest elastic waist pants and hem them. You can use the iron on hem tape if you don't sew. Hope insurance covers it!
Love it! awesome Job!
Looks great! Just got this about 30 mins ago - wish I could have got more but the 4yr refused to stay in bed grrrrr
Awesome shot! I love taking pictures. I need to stop using my phone and start using my camera again.
wow what a great and thorough answer! 1. I would like some eggs and pets.............I am just one person so I don't need tons of eggs 2. How do small eggs taste? I think small eggs and smaller costs sounds better----but I have no experience 3. Not sure as I am just starting..............guessing keeping the bird for 4-5 years 4. I don't need fancy----but some of the chickens just look plain ole ugly-----I don't want that...............I like the barred rock bantams and the easter eggers .........in appearance and what people say about them............I would like a friendly cuddly chicken............I don't want a noisy chicken as I am not sure how the neighbors will react. I think generally a fun project , with some not tons-------of eggs, and a friendly pet.................a diversional fun friendly animal to care for----------
I love my silkies! They are friendly and full of personality!

I have one white rock that runs when it's time to go in for the night. Tonight with the storms she was almost left out. It took 3 different times and dh helping me to finally get her to go in.

The hubby started making room for my new coop. I want to keep the old one for a back up but he wants it gone. I'm thinking about putti g it on Craigslist. Someone might be willing to pay a few bucks for it.

This is the part of the yard that building materials come to die. A perk of being married to a carpenter.......or something like that. Lol.

The little ones are now living in the garage. Dh said the house was starting to smell like a barn :p they got to enjoy some time outside while I cleaned the brooder. The black one is a Cochin serama mix and the yellow is a d'uccle. Does that look right?

Glad everyone made it out ok. I don't know about the insurance to be honest, I know what renters and homeowners cover, but not liability(? I think that's what buisnesses have). Try anywhere that sells petites, and even then you'll most likely need to hem. I'm 5'1" and plus size, so I need to hem everything except shorts and pedal pushers/clam diggers (whatever the knee length capris are). The other option it to buy the capris that are mid/lower calf length on "normal" women, I've honestly done that before.

Quote: Come to think of it, she does wear Capri's most of the time. Good thought. I had forgotten.
I have 2 problems. I have 4 Leghorns and 3 white Rocks. I was trying to get the Leghorns into the layer pen, and the broody EE into the chick pen so she can sit.
I grabbed the 2 with huge combs. They are definitely Leghorns. I went back, and I swear I cannot decide who the other 2 Leghorns are. Not by comb or tail. My flashlight kept going out, the thunder is rolling, and the lightening is flashing. The dog is scared. The chickens are upset. I finally grabbed 2, and prayed.
First problem to solve. What am I missing/what should I look for tomorrow to tell them apart? The Leghorns are ready to lay, the White Rocks are only 12 weeks.
Second, I saw something shiny while I was fumbling around in the chick pen. I thought it was a broken egg. Thinking again, I doubt the Leghorns have begun quite yet. If I see in the morning it is Cocci, are the adults now in trouble?
