well, someone turned him in cause they said he was starving the chickens, they called the humane society on him, seems like he had a whole bunch of chickens in his basement, he goes down to the auction and buys the cheap chickens, mostly roosters , i think he eats them. but anyway they took the chickens off him and were looking for farms to take them. at least that what i heard, they were talking about him last monday down there.(at the auction)What was the problem? Was he slaughtering for resale?
I just wanna hug emoh yeah! Goat babies are most awesome.

nasty lil buggersgrub, about the only thing that will eat them are skunks, will dig for them, tears a yard clear up and i heard the guineas will also eat them
we must have had a heck of a bunch of them, skunks moved in and decided to call our barn home and had young onesYep the skunks love these. They make a mess out of the yard and show up more when you are laden with grubs
yep, at least that who they were talking about down there last monday.OMG I was wondering if it was him..
don't remember if we went down or not, think we did, but didn't see you or i would have spoke, getting more forgetful by the day lolI was just at the auction 2 weeks ago and picked up 2 mottled hounans, They have been laying since day 1 but only one thing...they like to lay under the coop![]()

Sorry for your loseHad a rough morning... Went out to feed our little flock and let them roam for a little while and found 3 of my 4 month old RIR's were killed by predators, my lone girl thats left is a bit out of sorts today, I don't know how she managed to escape whatever got into the pen, even the swallow nests that were in my carport were down & the birds and babies were nowhere to be seen...
Anyone have chicks or pullets in the southeast PA area? I dont want to leave her on her own for too long shes never been alone & was the shyest of the 4.
Glad to see you're back, sucks about the order thoughHey guys, just wanted to jump in and let everyone know I'm still hanging in there. Also, Turkeys came the other day. Not too happy with the state of them (a lot of curled toes and weak legs I'll have to deal with) but even more disappointed in the fact that over half my order was substituted
What I ordered-
10 black mottled
3 Narragansett
2 blue palm
What I got-
4 black mottled
2 blue palm
5 chocolate mottled
6 pencilled palm
Now, they did send 2 extras (only 1 death so far, down to 4 choc mottled) but it looks like I won't be doing much breeding due to the hodge podge of varieties. I ordered back in January, would have been nice to get a complete (or even close to complete) order. Pics soon, they're very cute!
Isn't that a delicacy in the far East? I know in India there's a made with unborn sheep, and goats.A lil salt and you barely notice what it is.....
I'm the same way. I'll try anything once, if I like it I'll have it again. (I'm talking about food, nothing else!)There's really not much I haven't tried food wise. And if I haven't tried it I would.
Quote: I'm not going to defend him starving them, but I try to keep in mind the cultural end of anything like that. I know none of us (well I hope none of us would) use or birds for Santeria but in some cities religious reasons actually trump code when it comes to livestock.
All this talk about kilts reminds me I need to get my cousin fitted for his for the wedding...I'm really hoping I won't regret letting him wear one
