You are welcome, I am new to chickens also - my girls are 3 weeks 2 days old and have been so much fun to watch as they got bigger! You will have a ball when you finally get your coop done and get some chickens!

Ok, Little story :p

I woke up early before work today... So I went out and let the ducks out, gave the babies food and water, and harassed the goose a little.. And then I noticed that the mallard that hangs with the recently widowed female rouen was around.. but where is she???
I started to panic.. thinking she was coyote bait, I went searching around the pond... I really need to remember to wear sneakers in the AM outside because the seeds and what ever else in the wet grass is very annoying on my feet!
So, after walking the length of the pond and back and the idea of Mrs. Hobbles was gone... I headed back to the house. I went in and told my Dad about it... And then he says " Did you check the nest??" I was like ??? and here she has been laying eggs in the bottom of a EFM stoker bottom (which will be used on our new one lol) and I went out.. yup she was there! And unhappy that I bothered her!! I was just happy she was alive!

Mrs. Angry pants xD

The pond at 7am :p

It was such a great morning. Put me in a good mood.

A better pic! Yellow golden

Feathers are comming in on the neck.. weirdest things ever!

you? haven't seen you lately, busy?

Busy isnt the word for it, Today we took up the carpeting in the livingroom and hall and started putting down wood vinyl planks, looks good still have 3 boxes to do and it will be finished,

Oh they had a BALL, it was hilarious to watch, the chasing, flapping about and general exploration.  It appears they love ants lol

What breed? The one I have that hatched from an eBay egg looks similar to yours. I'll have to post a picture tomorrow. Your little boy is a cutie too!

Its not a big roof---------------------it will cover the dresser that is my avatar and extend a bit past it to the side and to the back ------I am opening the back of the dresser to make a back deck in the coop.

I cant find good simple pictures of how to make a lean to roof.

Honestly I was just going to have 4 posts on each corner--------------but now given what you say I am not sure..............

I don't know "rafters or trusses " etc...............I have watched a few shed building you tube videos ------------honestly they are still too carpentry advanced for me...............

I did not look into metal or plastic------------because I have been trying to use materials I have or can find via freecycle or craigs list.

I don't know how to cut the corrugated plastic or tin............also................

I do searches for materials yet find I may not be using the correct materials or roofing lingo............UGH............its hard to be such an amateur!

I'm married to a carpenter who likes to use me as free labor so my skills have improved over the last 12 years. My advice, do what research you can and put it together. If something doesn't work out you can always make changes. You will drive yourself crazy trying to do it perfect. I wish we lived closer. I have a ton of building supplies just sitting around.....and I would love to get rid of them!! Lol.

I'm extremely ticked right now. Among the many other issues we had with JJ's daughter while she was here she also brought bedbugs & lice with her. We found the lice right away & I just found the bedbugs when I was stripping beds. I may have to burn all of our beds to get rid of them. I can't afford to replace 3 beds right now. My son & daughter's beds are full of them (took me a month to find them because the kids usually do their own beds so they had time to multiply quite well) & I'm headed to check my bed now. I kept thinking we had fleas because I would wake up with bites all over me. Pretty sure they are in my bed too since it was my bed she slept in. I was nice enough to sleep on the floor for this spoiled 16 yr old so she could have a bed. She had mentioned (after she was here for 5 days) that they had had bedbugs at her house but swore they had gotten rid of them. OBVIOUSLY NOT!!! If anyone knows where I can get 2 twin beds & a full or queen extremely cheap I will be eternally grateful. Just the mattresses will work but box springs would be great too.

Oh no. A friend of a friend had them (thinks she brought them back from vacation) and had to get her house treated several times. Bag up your clothes and curtains, etc and place them outside tied up tight. They die in the heat. She had to get rid of her beds and carpeting. I wish I could help with a mattress. Pittsburgh has catholic charities that will help with that kind of stuff. I used them when I worked in social services. Good luck.

I cleaned almost all day. I took one small swimming break with the kids. I turn into a nut when we have things at my house. I know no one will be looking in the closets but I still feel the need to clean and organize them. They needed done but I could have picked another day. So it's midnight and I'm finally able to sit down. Still have to clean the kitchen and bathrooms. If I did them today they would need redone tomorrow before the party. I hope the weather is nice and we can be poolside all day tomorrow. Have a nice night!

Quote: Luckily we are remodeling & there is not a scrap of carpet left anywhere in the house & all of my curtains are sheets & blankets which went into the washer last night. The kids had to share a camping mat on the floor last night with 1 pillow to share, a sheet covering the mat & 1 little blanket each. Both of their beds were so bad we burned them. I'll be ripping my bed apart today to check it & it may join the other 2 in the burn pile. I HATE freaking bugs!!! The lice were bad enough, had to shave my son's head to get them out & still picking nits out of my daughter every night as I find more. I chopped all of my hair off just so I wouldn't get them from the kids & JJ shaved his head too. My hair was clear down the middle of my back, now it's to the nape of my neck. We ended up with bed bugs from furniture we got from a rental place (won't name which 1) a couple years ago & had to burn everything & get new then. I just don't have the money to replace all of these freaking beds. At least there's no livingroom furniture involved this time as I still haven't replaced all of that from the last time.
