I liked your page. I still want to start a page for our area. I need someone to show me how to process a chicken. I don't think I can do it on my own. Oh, I was searching Craigslist tonight I came across your ad. I can't wait until I can start selling eggs.Hey can I ask those of you that are also on facebook for a favor? I am slowly putting together a facebook community page call Chicken Nicks Micro farm. I am just trying to figure it all out and guess my way through it. It will be as much about me learning things as it is about teaching things. It's not all about chickens but also about other aspects of homesteading and so forth. Anyway, to build it up, I would like to get a few likes on the page to make it seem like it has at least a little interest. If you are on facebook and wouldn't mind helping me out, would you like the page for me? It is www.facebook.com/chickenNicks By all means, correct me on anything that is wrong, suggest something new or give me different opinions on things. Thanks for your help!

Welcome!Hi all, I am new around here and looking for some others who may be close to me. I am in Coopersburg, PA. I am looking for the best way to get my kids more involved with the chickens - they already do most of the work for them and love them to pieces, but my knowledge is limited to what I can search for online and I think the 4-H club doesn't allow kids under 8 (mine are 3, 5 and 6). Any other ideas????? Thanks! Shannan

This is the 4th night the leghorn rooster and his main girl stayed on top of the coop instead of going in at night. Friday night they went in on their own, last night I had to use a fishing net to get them down. Tonight I got the hen to go in but the rooster kept flying away so I left him out. It's so frustrating that the rest of them go in at night and these two jackasses make me chase them down! Ugh! I'm sure my neighbor gets a good laugh watching me run around with a fishing net yelling at them. Lol.
My other silkie hen is laying with the one who is broody. She was out all day but when I went in tonight to check on them she was laying with her. I wonder if she will stay put tomorrow or if she is just keeping her company at night.
I moved the two chicks that hatched June 6th into the coop. They can see the other chickens but they can't get to them. In a week or so I might let them free range with the group and see how it goes. They are small birds so I want to make sure they don't get picked on.
I still have 3 chicks in the brooder set up in the garage. To are Easter Eggers and one is a serama. They hatched a few weeks ago. The serama is still so tiny! She isn't even as big as the Easter Eggers were when they first hatched. I'm worried about how she will do when we move them to the coop. Hopefully the new one will be done by then. Anyone have experience with these tiny cuties and mixing them with their flock?
My husband took measurements and drew up a picture of the new coop. He did a write up of the cost and said the biggest issue now is getting the land leveled. He cleared the area but didn't get to level it. He blew a hydraulic line in the backhoe and hasn't had time to fix it. I swear to get one thing done 20 other things have to happen. I wish I could help but he is on his own with that one.
Does anyone sell their smaller eggs? Just wondering if their is a market for them.
