Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

This is my hometown...and I'm in complete shock. Families I've known my whole life...their whole livelihood is just...gone. It's still a small town. Everyone steps up to help one another....but this on top of last year...I don't know how much help can be given.

Now just to catch him! LOL! Maybe I will do this at the end of the day when they all go in the good. maybe do it in the coop? He will run away if i try to catch him, he only attacks when my back is turned.

Thank you Cheralee! Thankfully, I did read about that on a gardening website a couple weeks ago, so I know what to look for. I should be picking some up near me tonight. Found them on Craigslist, woo hoo!

Thanks Stake, I think I may just get some little chickys off of someone here instead in the early spring; it would be better to have someone to bug with questions personally. :D

Did you guys insulate your coops? We do get some chilly days here in the winter. My Aunt in Bradford County did not, and her chickens seems fine.

amen to the canning, have stabbed, sliced my hand and fingers, among other things, but still keep right on canning and freezing, lets face it, we like to eat what we grow

Having to move everything out of the 'built-in 'to accommodate the jars!!...

The rows are 4-deep(pint), 6 deep-(half pint)....

Sneaking a little bite while the biggies are away....

The Biggies....hahaha...feathers are going every where today, it is really windy!

I put chick-a-dee in with the 'big-girls' for "play time" or should I say "chase the one smaller than you" time....poor thing. She is about One-Third their size.... She needs to get a little bigger till she can be with them on a more permanent basis.
I am thinking about getting another 8 week old to go with her.....kinda take the entire pressure off of her...maybe disperse it a bit with another one?

What do you all think?
If I do this, I am only interested in BLR wyandotte or a Buff Orp....8-9week old pullets, good breeding, would like to have nice(SOP) to start with.....I am very limited right now to the space I have, so I only want to 'take up the space' with what I am truly interested in....

If anyone has anything like that or knows of someone who does, I would be greatly appreciative!! Thank you...Hope everyone is doing well and having a good day! It is BEAUTIFUL day !!-Danielle

This is how I insulate. Feed bags split down the side & stapled to the inside (or outside) of the coop.
