We're leaving here bright and early Friday...with all 5 kids in tow....and the step-daughter...her new BF is supposed to join us Saturday.

So...I've mentioned that my wedding has morphed into Oltoberfest right? Now DH wants to add the gun show to the morning of the wedding....any ya'll wonder why I'm completely insane.

No problem at all! ; ). And I was thinking you didn't look like bridezilla when we saw you on Sat..... ...but then maybe it was the merlot!
BTW, what are you doing the NEXT weekend?? Lol!

the vinegar kinda cures them, i have a batch much older, still quite tasty and we're not dead yet.

In my defense growing up my mom was a food safety person. I forget what she did exactly but I am werid about food going bad...plus once I got food poisoning from Olive Garden. I have never been that sick in my life it was hell plus the couple days I spent in the hospital to top it all off!!! NO THANK you again!

Plus I am new to this whole farm fresh egg stuff!!! If Only my girls would start laying already!!!
They need to start earning their keep!

Bachelor/Bachelorette party....wanna come???? And it was the Crimson Fox...I like it sweet! Also helped that we sat right in front of the Members 1st tent, and kept getting free glasses from there!

I am a bit late, but I've been super busy this week. My pickled eggs are super easy. I make mine in a 1 gallon glass pickle jar. I am never sure how many eggs will fit, but I boil around 3-4 dozen. We like egg salad for whoever doesn't make it into the pickling bath.

3 cans of whole or sliced beets
Vinegar and sugar to your taste preference (I like mine sweet w/ a little tart).
Eggs

Let sit in fridge at least 3 days.

I will have to stop by and visit sometime! just to see someone elses coop would be neat too! And everyday i have been going out and checking for eggs and nothing...My oldest girls are 7 months and my other girls are 6 months. My two newest ones are only around 3 so I know they wont be laying anytime soon.

I have five of my original six girls are laying regular....one has only laid two maybe three eggs total...If you are free ranging,.. check under the bushes....also, my crew eats like kings...they get two scratch feedings a day, a bowl of pellets is always available, and a couple of neighbors save veggie scrapes for crew....they also get extra veggies from my garden and I've been feeding back some extra eggs....I think extra food makes extra eggs...my two cents....

I have five of my original six girls are laying regular....one has only laid two maybe three eggs total...If you are free ranging,.. check under the bushes....also, my crew eats like kings...they get two scratch feedings a day, a bowl of pellets is always available, and a couple of neighbors save veggie scrapes for crew....they also get extra veggies from my garden and I've been feeding back some extra eggs....I think extra food makes extra eggs...my two cents....

They havent been free ranging for the last 2 weeks. My two new hens thought it would be a good idea to visit the turkey farm thats 1/4-1/2 mile away. The owner wasnt happy about it. So they have been locked up in their run since. Till I get the time to get more stuff to make their run bigger or fence up our property line against his. Mine always have a mix of pellets/crumbles at all times. Some like the pellets the other dont... (weridos) I give them scraps or left overs if I have them in the am or I give them scratch or meal worms. They always get something extra in the am. And I have been on the nights I home letting them out around 645 or so. I know they go to bed around 715-730, so they can get some free range time in but hoping its not enough time for them to wonder too far!

Hope everyone is doing well and all the birds are doing well. Hi to all the new people!

I promise I will try to be on more! The garden is pretty much kaput, the fences are done, the coops and runs and done so hopefully fall will be un eventful except for feed/ hay storage.

Just incase anyone is interested. I have some extra you boys looking from homes.
