Hey:

Need a better understanding of hatching chicks....this morning went out to check on the broody and found 2 day old chicks laying dead on the floor of the coop about a foot from the broody mom,,,,she is still sitting on one egg...I could find no injuries. I think they may have just gotten out from under her and the cold got them...or maybe one of the other big girls just stepped on them....your thoughts?

Fruity and lil tart but, yeah pretty good. Gavin had half the bag gone before I realised how far into them he was...not gonna complain though that extra energy boost made him a big help with the improvements on the duck coop last night. I have a feeling he'll have a major sugar crash today and be a putz though.

That's the first I've seen them round here, and I usually go to stores like this one because things are fresher and the owners are local.

So sorry to hear that.... either option is a possibility, especially with a new broody. Don't be too discouraged, broodies are wonderful, but not foolproof and it is hard to be hands off and let them do their thing. Again... so sorry you lost the other two, hopefully the other egg hatches for her.

Bonus, I now have at least one new egg customer at the store, if not more! Sometimes it is a good thing to live where you grew up and know people. I went to school with the owner's grandson. Gonna hit the fiance's Uncle's store for pallets later this week LOL.

Will anyone have BLRW in the spring (April/May) available?....I don't mind at this point if they are chicks either...would RATHER they be sexed already(pullets)...I am only really looking for one..(lack of room at this time-going to change when we can)... Have been trying to acquire for awhile now, but hasn't panned-out. ***Just want to put my name on a list or something like that..

***I am looking for a well bred bird-SOP..doesn't have to be "show-quality", but would like to have a nice one... for future endeavors...I know everyone here has beautiful-quality birds..so I am asking here first....Thank You- Danielle
