If she sits 'tight' then yes, it can hurt her If she's only been brooding 4 weeks and her comb color and weight look good, I would put more eggs under her. Just keep an eye on her comb color and feed her some scrambled eggs or tuna ever once in a while to keep her protein up.

This! And I also give mine meal worms, rinsed canned corn (to get salt off) and raisins... basically any healthy treats and the higher protein the better. We place a small bowl right near her so she can eat whenever she wants.

sorry Stake-------------that's a sad finding............

I hear / read peoples posts about injuries or birds not coming back or death of an animal.......................Its sad.

I have would be heart broken every time something like this happens...................some of you farmer types are emotionally tough!

Looks like we can finally get back to business as usual around here by tomorrow evening. JJ is supposed to be out of the hospital tomorrow afternoon.

Just a fun little question: Has there ever been something that one of your chickens WOULDNT eat?

In my case there hasn't been anything they wouldn't eat, or even anything they wouldn't go nuts over! They even eat stuff they're not supposed to like dirt and feces.

In regards to this question, sorry for the grossness, but do any of your chickens try to eat dog doo? :sick. Just wondering if this a problem... My instincts tell me they probably wouldn't if they are well fed and happy.
