Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

LMP. Yep,chocolate beer sounded odd to me also, that's why I wanted a taste before buying

Stake...I have been making a chicken sausage, took some time to get it to where we all like it.....I fry bacon and use the saved grease in my sausage....different but works for us.....

Oddly when I went to check on everyone tonight, I had a meat bird down......no energy to do the job right so I just skinned quickly....all the while my 26 year old daughter watched....afterwards she asked me. "Mom, have you ever had a dainty girlie side....". Not sure if I should be offended or not cause my answer is a big NO...

Hello everyone! I haven't been on in weeks. I tried to catch up but after 20 pages everything started to run together. Baseball is finally over so now I just have my daughters soccer practices and games. It will be nice to have my weekends back.....at least until basketball starts.

Anyone else battling stink bugs? We had them for the last 6 years and I can't take them anymore. They love my front door, hundreds of them. When you open it they fly in the house and in my hair, on my clothes, everywhere! I might lose my mind soon if someone doesn't find something to kill them for good.

My white rocks are over 6 months old and still aren't laying. My leghorn hasn't laid an egg in 4 days. I had to buy store bought eggs *gag*. Normal behavior or should I be worried?

How old will a mama hen keep her babies with her? The leghorn chicks are almost as big as their silkie "mama" and still sleep under her! Lol.

Has anyone in PA seen additional varieties of wyandottes..................

like the Columbian Wyandotte
or the partridge Wyandotte.

although the blue laced red...............I hope I got that right..............it seems to be preferred............I am interested in these other types.

then again my main idea for the spring is

green eggs and
dark brown eggs and

overall compatibility of the girls!

Olive eggers-----are mixes of brown and blue egg layers ----right?

I have this condition -------------which you all may have too...............this ---------"itis" it keeps flairing up.................chickenitis..........its not that bad though...................just persists......

LilMissPurdy, WOWZA!! Awesome job! And do I see 'chickadee' in with the big girls?

Stake, Sausage? Nice.! And we've got some pork to move through here!

Anyone else SICK to death of this weather? -other than Wing's Meatie...:lau
Seriously though, I have had ENOUGH of this weather. Looks like it's going to cool down Thursday, can't wait.

And can't wait for it to be light out! I wanna get cracking on chores. Not that I can't get out there with my head lamp -quite the fashion statement, just prefer the light.

MyPeeps, great picks! I think each Broody is different. I've got an August 18th hatch still sleeping 'under' Momma, our Silkie tends to brood her chicks longer, where Popcorn, my spoiled bestest baby is about done at 4-5 weeks,

And Stinkbugs!! Arrrrgh! I feel your pain. We have resorted to using an exterminator. I know everyone's dealing with these things, but I have yet to have someone at my house that doesn't say, 'we've got stink bugs, but I haven't seen anything like this'. -including the exterminator. The whole South side of my house is a moving wall of stink bugs. Last week my neighbor came over with her precious 28 day old baby, while running for the car a stink bug flew into the babies MOUTH, and let out it's stick. It was SOOO upsetting. They baby is fine, vomited a bit that day, but ok. The exterminator was here later that afternoon. Unfortunately, they don't all die at once. He sprayed the outside of the house, all animals kept a safe distance away until the chemical dried, the stink bugs land on the house, walk through the poison, and die a few days later. I spend every morning sweeping up thousands of stink bugs from my deck.

I have a personal opinion question.

Those of you with bantam roosters, which breed is the most human-friendly?

I love my silkie rooster. He is so sweet and is a good boy. My sultan rooster was horrible, he flogged me everyd chance he got with his double spurs.

Lisa I got some blue laced red wyandottes from PeakyBeaky. I got splash, blue and black chicks from her. They are getting their colors in, very pretty.

, OMG..poor baby! gross! Sorry to hear they are so bad for you !! Ortho Home Defence MAX...we put it inside and if it is real bad along the perimeter(house) outside. Safe for kids/pets after it dries, but I still wouldn't let them play near it..it is along the edges/corners anyway. It takes a little time to apply yourself, but we have found it REALLY DOES work!
We lived in Lanc. Co....we know how bad they are..nasty things!! It worked there!
Up here, we have alot of "Lady bugs"-beatles..there are like 500 types of them, whatever...and we have some pretty big/nasty spiders too, all of them..dead! Just another option instead of the exterminator..was too expensive for us to go that way, then we found out that they use a VERY close formula to the Ortho-stuff. It is a cheap way to find out if it would work for anyone..just alittle work moving your "things" so you can get it where you need to. Hope this is helpful to someone.

OK, assorted things without the accompanying quotes...

First, Missy, congrats on the wedding. All this corset talk has been quite educational.

Whoever asked about deep litter, I use it. If it gets stinky, I turn it over with a fork to aerate it, and add another layer of bedding. If you smell ammonia, it's too wet. Since it's fall, save your fallen leaves - they make a fine bedding and the price is right.

Wingstone, if you like dark beers, chocolate stout kicks butt. Mmmmm. I'm not sure if I'd like the peanut butter one or not. Come visit me, bring hubby to drive you home. We can stick our pinkies in the air and have a beer tasting. Some of the bigger Giant stores have beer now, and you can buy a mixed 6 pack for around $10.

Anyone, I have a couple 'extra' marans roos. Blue copper, blue splash, plus one cuckoo from hatching eggs from Nicol Perry (Marans club egg show winner)
I'm thinning them out for winter. Will trade for interesting beer, lol. Need to know ASAP though. I'm about 1/2 hour north of Harrisburg.

pipe just needs to be straightened, other than that, great job, you might make a plumber yet

Thanks Sharron

,
We had it all straight and nice, but the feed wouldn't "run" through right...
hu.gif
, it kept getting stuck at the elbow and backing up the fill-part of the tube. so we kept angling it until it would run-freely down into the 'eating' area. Hey, any thoughts as to how to make it "look" better, I am all ears...would rather it be level..just didn't work out that way for us..that is why we will re-think and re-do this feeder thing in the spring..it works for now, good for when we want to go away, but I do want something that looks good and works well....well I guess, don't we all?!
