I do also wish you well----------health challenges are stressful...........and tend to put all other parts of life in perspective! ...

slow and steady......one day at a time.

I just came in from TRYING to close up the coop door tonite............seems the rain has caused some of the wood to change
----warp or whatever..........cant slide my coop door closed!

Its just leaning on the opening...................does this mean some nasty predator will eat my chickens tonite...............oh no! I am gonna have to figure something out.
its rainy and 930 and dark...................crap!

what to do!

One of the reasons I went with barn doors on the side and a dutch door on the front was because I know I'm not a good enough carpenter to pull off the tolerances necessary for a properly sliding door of any sort. :)

Might try drying it out with a hair dryer or heat gun if you have one. Could get you enough to shut it up.

Failing that, there's either the (im)proper application of blunt force via an (in)appropriate instrument. (Hit it with a hammer till it shuts.)

Maybe nail a board over the opening and just pry it out of the way in the morning?

I think I have a temporary----as in for tonite solution..........keeping my fingers crossed.
I have pushed a board in the space -------------cant really describe...........but I will let this group know in the morning. I will be in a better position to make basic repairs in the afternoon daylight.

Wow! That's a whole lotta crazy going on. Glad you're back and ok.

Bobbie, so sorry to hear about your pens. I was sipping hard cider at Stakes (delicious!) when the storm came through here. Had some lost birds one pretty badly injured and in the kitchen, over turned my tandem brooder, tossing out my 2 Broodys and all tier chicks! Arrrgh.

Enjoyed some amazing sausage, the boys were fighting over it! Stake, I'm going to need that recipe.
B:

Really nice to have you visit and meet my crew....and very generous of you not to be overwhelmed by my pups...Hope things work out for your Dane...hard situations just are.... glad you liked my cider and your kids liked the sausage....more important is sorry the storm messed things up and had injured your birds...mine just hunkered down under a bush next to the house and were fine...thought the jaw breakers would be the kids' favs...below are the links I used to make the sausage...stay dry/warm...etc...

Thank you for the recipes and the jaw breakers were a huge hit! My son didn't believe it was candy, kept saying, 'yer lying. That's a ball." They certainly are the largest jaw breakers I've ever seen. The injured bird seems much better. Things could have been much worse, I had 3 brooders on the hill and all three were blown over, only one of them had birds in it. I think my injured girl must have been hunkered down next to a brooder when it went over, makes sense with her injury.

Here's Peach the Dane this morning. She lost so much weight this year, we got her a coat to keep her warm.
