Quote: When we lived in Perry Co. we were between two farms. It was amazing to watch the herds..yes..herds of deer come out of the woods and go to town on the corn..they were so loud!! We would watch them rip & pull the stalks...not too much left after they came through..I do empathize with the farmers... you know their freezers are full too!
OMGosh!!!
...too funny..,"taste the rainbow"...no thank you!!
We are always inundated with road hunters around our place.... my Mom has a 100+ acre property and she has a lot of trouble with slob hunters. The good folks are respectful and most stop at the farmhouse to get permission for hunting around the farm, then their are the idiots who think it is ok to pull off at the barn and shoot across the horse pasture at the next hillside (when the horses are out in the barn field and yes, she watched it happen). She actually had one idiot gripe at her for being near him when she caught him in HER tree stand. She now has to patrol the property numerous times a day to make sure her horses or other animals are OK. She saw another out of town hunter shoot into a group of deer and a fawn dropped, the hunter went up to it, saw it was a fawn and turned and just walked away.... she intercepted him before he got back to his truck and told him he needed to tag the deer. He argued with her until he found out she already had his license plate number from the truck and was notifying authorities of the incident. He did tag and take the fawn then.
We lived in Perry Co. for awhile. Had a bit of land too....also had a hunter in our stands..people fishing in our pond...no one asked for permission. I don't know what is "wrong" with some people..."slob-hunters" seem to be epidemic though...so sorry your mother had to deal with dis-respectful people. We like to dove/small game hunt..we would NEVER even think about just traipsing on to someone else property. We always ask the owners. Glad she was able to get him to tag his "fawn"...**you do have to be so careful though with people anymore, very unpredictable..
Did you get everything else figured out? I never heard from you about the goats so I suppose you found someone closer. I'm glad you're getting things taken care of, not a position I'd want to be in.
Anyone else have hunters swarming their area? There are Pick Up trucks EVERYWHERE.
They are everywhere here too!! The trucks start to go by around 4-5 am..and go on all day, just driving around..looking for something to run over or whatever it is that you do while "hunting" in a vehicle. We were NEVER taught to do that..go to the woods ,scout, pick your area..do the work..then maybe you will be lucky enough to see something.
**Wow, what a difference in the weather today!! Actually saw mosquitos flying around...Beautiful day....hope everyone got out to enjoy a little bit of it.
