Oh, that's terrible! Hope no harm to any birds and hopefully you will be able to get it back to good shape soon!

OK, so time to thread hog again... see what happens when you are stuck inside for 2 weeks??? LOL

Just a reminder that there is an end to the snow....

Barbie, hang on for two more days. It will all melt. We are getting temps between 38-48 from Thursday to I think Monday. I will have a lot of work to do during that time!
My sister adopted an older dog years ago. I swear that dog was the best thing to happen to my sister's other dog (whom was deaf). Lucy would go get Poochie when it was time to go inside, or when treats were being given. Lucy had belonged to an older couple in a trailer. She lived out her final years in a large house and yard, and loved to go hiking.
I can also relate to animals mourning. I brought my kitten in for vaccinations, and the other cat in for what I thought was a broken leg. She was filled with cancer, and was put down immediately. The kitten searched everywhere, and cried for a month. Ironically my puppy didn't have much of a problem when his big sister died.
Happier thoughts! Anyone ever walk a turkey? You know? Snap on a collar and leash, and walk down a back road, enjoying the scenery?

My turkeys are fine. Most of the poles are still up just bend in bad. Doesn't look like they can get out or creatues can get in. I'm looking forward to some nicer weather.

I know animals morn. Seen it with Panzer when Cashmere died. She would get out of the yard (she never did that before) and look for Cashmere. She would bark and cry looking for her. It was so said. We got her a puppy, Fluffy bear, to cheer her up. When Fluffy Bear died right before my boys went to scout camp for the week. She was so depressed. She stopped eating and moped around. I had to tell Panzer that the boys will be home from camp soon. She seemed to understand and started to eat. She was so happy to see the boys when they got home. It's never easy to loose a pet, for both other pets and their humans.

On Easter I'll have EE babies just as a heads up. See what I did there? I'm hatching Easter Eggers ON Easter! Woo!!!! They'll be like 3 dollars. I'll also have adorable little barnyard mixes for $1 or for free if you're from here.

18 weeks till' Easter!

Katt, I almost always run at least 1 of my 3 bators at all times. The only reason I don't have 1 running right now is because I knew we were moving & stopped setting eggs. My last batch was hatching while we were moving...lol

I have not yet found a place to put my bator in this 24 ft camper that is our temporary home but as soon as I do I will be hatching again. I currently have 2 brooders full of chicks growing out. All are 1 1/2 weeks to almost 4 months old. I usually set a batch of eggs every 6-10 days.
OMG...you are not going to set eggs in there with all of you??!!

Indeed. Y U Tempt me so! D: If only I had the money and accommodations right now. If you have any babies around early Summerish I just might take some off of your hands.

My guys are all doing great. Ms Buffington/Ms Butterworth/Dumpy, my fat fluffy Buff Orpington with a million names started to lay last week. Got my poor daughter in trouble nearly too. She laid an egg on Monday. Then didn't lay another one for a couple of days. On Thursday I had work for the first time in like three weeks so I wasn't home to tuck the birds in. Called the kids and asked my younger daughter, Jamie to bring in their water, close their coop door, and make sure she checked the nest boxes in case anybody laid late because the egg would be frozen hard and burst till morning if not.
When I opened their coop door in the morning I took a peek in the nest box and there was a lovely dark brown egg frozen solid and split wide open. I was so mad! Jamie swore up and down that she did check the nests and there were no eggs the night before. I yelled at her insisting she must have forgotten to check because none of the hens sleep in the nest boxes and there's no way they would have gotten down off the roosts in the middle of the night to lay an egg. And she let poor Dumpy's 2nd egg burst and now it was no good. So there I was being all mad at her over neglecting her duties. That night I was off and I closed up the coop, checked the nests myself and brought in their waterers. No eggs anywhere to be found. Saturday morning, what did I find when I went to leave them out of the coop at around 5:30 in the morning? A beautiful dark brown egg, cold but not frozen so she must have laid it at least an hour or so before I found it. Boy did I feel bad! Went right in, woke Jamie up, gave her a hug and apologized for not believing her about the egg. Apparently my little Dumpy is a very early morning layer. And she's laid an egg every day since then as well. Looks like another girl trying to compete with my White Leghorn for the title of top layer. As long as they keep making me breakfast and don't get too carried away with the competition they can do whatever they want. ^_^
I know I am getting to all of these late..sorry..been kinda busy...like everyone else, for sure!!...

KATT-I would have been ranting too util, like you found out..you do have a VERY early riser!!! I am sure you are forgiven..

...Still working on the DH about a goat...I will endeavor to perverse!...That creek looks like anywhere right here along Young Woman's Creek...so beautiful!
Blarney- I am so sorry for your and your families loss. Almost three years ago now, we took Fudd (springer), to the vet ..he was hurting/suffering so bad...couldn't make it up the back stairs on his own...I love that dog & miss him so, loved to hunt over him.. it is still hard when we talk about him. BUT..i know we did the right thing...
love.gif
Your Peach was beautiful, and that trash thing...well, they are never too old NOT to get into that..what a corker!
well ms purdy:

My original six girls are doing well....one on my dorks seems not to want to lay an egg the other went broody and hasn't laid in about two months....my GLWs and BOs are still doing well and one BO is recovering from a broody stint....my Marans girls are laying and being a pia to the dorks...my main roo has a bit of frostbite but is getting to be quite the stud muffin....and baby roo is will be getting his game on soon as he is just getting as big as the girls...what I find interesting is that each breed really does have its own personality....
I am not getting any eggs right now...(worming), but you know what, i think i am on to something here...the girls have pretty much "turned -off" right now...i have gotten 3 eggs in OVER the past week, from Ginger..(BL-BLRW)...other than that..nothing. Poor Babs looks soo bad..I didn't think they molted like this till they were over a year old?
hu.gif
.....IDK..anyway,
For the future i am thinking of preventive-worming this time of the season. It would make more sense to do this now, when it is "down -time" foe them, then in the middle of their laying in the fall.
Is it okay, do you think..or would it be too rough on them, this time of year AND if they wait till now to molt like this....?? I do give them a bit more protein..twice/three times a week they get a bit of dog food...
You don't have any wynadottes *Stake!! If you want birds with personality, well...these are the girls for you!!!
pop.gif
WOW,, and each are so different from one-another!! In the future i am interested in getting a Buff Orp, Partidge Orp, (love those feathers!!)...and a SLW... What do you feed your girls..FF? Dry?

Last, but most certainly not least…Our Sweet Peach, never too old or weak to rip the trash apart…

A walk with kisses from the Bell

She left us last Monday, and I feel certain that Heaven got another angel… as Michelle says, she was 'a grand old dame'.

awe Bobbie I am sure they did get a Angel so sad.

Our Dalmatain is 13 and totally lost it, otherwise he is fine fit and healthy, so odd, he doesnt stop barking or crying and walking into corners and stuff, he bit me several times because I think I scared him and he just didnt know me or what was going on. I dont have the heart to take the old guy, he annoys the heck out of me but I just cant no matter how old and wacked he is. Its so hard to think about. I have to keep him in Lucas's room for our safety and his.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! Are we enjoying the cold weather!!
