...I know i have some paper work from the CPT testing.
**On a much nicer note...did/does anyone who went to the Farm show have any pics to share with those who aren't able to go?...

***smooth cell surfaces (i.e., no flagella) and lack of trehalose outside the cytoplasm improved survival rates after freeze-drying. Because desiccation is important for survival during storage, the presence of extracellular polysaccharides or teichoic acids is disadvantageous for long-term survival. The lower survival rates of freeze-dried Gram-negative bacteria compared with those of Gram-positive bacteria may be attributed to the thinner peptidoglycan layer and the presence of lipopolysaccharides on the cell wall in the former species.

***This is what I am trying to find out...can't seem to find a site with specific (Marek's)cell description(s) ....my eyeballs are starting to hurt from he laptop light...

and in layman's terms? HA! I will re-read and read that pdf in the morning if the kids go to school.. Not sure on school, 2hr delay so far

night y'all

Sally..have you seen this one....http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18323678
it is interesting..now, what is the composition/structure of the Mareks cells....that will- maybe give an idea as to weather it is still viable after freeze drying...still not going to be raising or feeding them now to the birds, but it is good to know...
I will have a read tomorrow mine eyes are so tired, time for some rest!

This is also our plan! I'm keeping the kids out of school and headed to Harrisburg! :weee

I'm extremely worried about my birds even with all the preparation that was done....my poor dog who NEVER comes in....is in the house. She is a panting bundle of nerves, poor thing. We picked her up lots of stuff to chew on while we were at the Mill getting straw today and you would think she is on death row the way she is behaving.

this information on Mareks............well it has made me decide to ditch the mealworm container...

just doesn't seem worth it and it has taken a long long time and all I have are beetles.......

If this occurs in dust................I wonder if any dust is an issue.

If that is the case...........well not sure if there is an action plan other than

cleaning out the coop more frequently.............all the bedding.

I don't do all the bedding out in the winter............

In the summer I was doing that and using a vinegar water spray mix on the floor roosts.......

No matter what we do...........there will always be diseases around for humans and animals in the world

we just have to make reasonable and informed decisions.

so........I am ditching the meal worms for now........there are enough other food options.

Well I am a crazy chicken mom!!!! I broke down and brought everyone in! They are camping out in storm's old crate in garage. I couldn't leave them out....
