Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

what type of seeds did you start?

It seems early to me by the calendar but not by my interest..........
I started a lettuce mix which is doing well... now that I have a light on it... The herbs I started at the same time have yet to show any results along with the beets..... I am over zealous for spring I think...

scovies are my favorite,,,they are just much more laid back to me,,,,they do pinch pretty hard though....I will be hatching some when the weather allows (eggs are still freezing on me)...will hatch both by incubator and a broody if I get one....by the way mine are all the white scovies

I am getting eager also..
They sound like a pretty amazing duck to keep. Do yours like to swim? I have 3 broody banty hens out of the 4 (In my pic). Would some fertile eggs be available later? I finally am attempting to hatch eggs for myself and am pretty excited to see what I get.

my scovy are pretty spoiled, I did have to chop some wings though, they would go over to the barn and help themselves to all kinds of things,,,,,but they do have plenty of space,,,,,they will occasionally take a swim but really do not bother with water like the pekin do.

some of the smaller ones are still young, august, sept hatch

to Sally Sunshine and

anyone else who has used pallets to make a coop.

I am looking at the HInkel Haus in the coop section to help me in my ideas.

I might make a little smaller.....to save on some wood costs.

Altought all the walls are pallets you are still covering the pallets with plywood...........
and the floor as well.

anyone else have coop designs with pallets for up to 10 chickens?

Way too many hours in the car, Roosters crowing as we pass through the toll in NYC make my son say he feels like we're the Beverly Hillbillies. Biggest show I've ever seen. Sneaking chicks past the front desk at the hotel...[/COLOR]

anddddd what you smuggle? lol

Marans chicks. And everything sold, YAY!.

my kind of research...

according to science I am normal, need to show this to hubby who is up at sunrise and sleeping by 7pm...I am just getting started at 7pm....I blame it on years of swingshift though not science.

That is awesome Martha, have fun, I hear its a great show, and I have some other friends that went too!

Heather, I wish you came, it is by far the largest show I've ever participated in. Lots to see and learn and the birds are gorgeous! My son won BB for his Marans pullet. Super exciting. I didn't see Arielle, but I did talk to some turkey people as my son wants to try raising them.

@ Lisa, LOVE LOVE LOVE your 50th birthday coop raising idea! And as for frostbite. As a preventative, I try to keep the coop dry and we'll ventilated. Balmex is what I'm using now for healing afterward.
