Currently surfing e-bay hatching eggs, I need an intervention!
They're gonna be in a brooder in the house till Easter!

Give it two or three more weeks, then you can toss them outside before they start driving you nuts!

you are close by if you should decide you want other breeds...give a holler can help you find them.

I am not a fan of turkens, just something not right with them..

The first one we had(Turken) hatch and my girls said "EWWWW, I'm not touching that!"

I have an order in for Light Sussex eggs from the same breeder I got my Buckeyes from. His birds are gorgeous and huge... I have a broody (Bessy)who needs eggs and I really don't want to hatch out anymore mixes right now, since I have another broody (Rosie) on day 6 of setting on 8 mix eggs. Today I found Bessy sharing her box with 2 of her 'sisters', one who has now plucked her chest to help her sit on her golf balls, though 'broody wanna be' still is roosting at night. If the 'wanna be' has decided by the time I get eggs I may get extras from this breeder's brother, who happens to raise White Rocks (another on my want list!)

Edit to add the names... gets confusing when you have multiple broodies.

The weather is enough of an intervention for me! Think.....the chicks nee to go outside..... when?
Not supposed to warm up till April 1st. Probably still too cold to ship eggs and expect a good hatch.

I've been hatching since December. I am having a couple issues, but nothing serious. In Feb. I am eliminating quite a few birds and opening up a pen for the older, feathered chicks. They will still have a heat lamp, but they will be housed more appropriately (an actual pen) in my large shed.
