My opinion... folks like bantam cochin year round because of the 'pet' factor... but the Bresse and Doms are more of a meat/practical application bird. And folks looking in the spring are often looking for birds to provide dual purpose.
So doing the Bresse an Doms early will allow you to get more of the spring flock replacement folks.

I like the bantam year round also,,,,

yea I know, I make my money in the meat department and bantam are not real practical,,,but really I can not help it, they are so cute...

but i do believe the bresse and dom will win

I also have my meat maker rooster, he is a cross himself....delaware/freedom ranger.....he makes some nice fast growing babies..

Wing... I believe you have a bit more space than many of us... with your room I would scour Craig's list, local papers and junk yard for one of those ancient 18 foot campers (most aren't worth anything if they don't have a title)
You could then strip out most of inside and divide it into 4 or even 6 breeder pens, and cut pop doors through to outside for each pen, then set up fencing to keep them separated outside and it can be moved monthly for fresh grass so the pens don't need to have the same outdoor space as a permanent coop.
It would still be pretty secure, it has a man door to allow you easy access for cleaning and feeding, it is warm enough for year round use if needed and already has light and ventilation built in.
I have refurbished them many times in my head on long road trips! LOL

tried that with a small trailer,,,hubby decided it would be perfect for chemical and seed storage,,,,easily kept locked...

old trailer in background,, i got it gutted and hubby stole it.

Fisherlady, hubby wants me to get calf hutches and use movable fencing,,,then just set up within the main layer run when needed,,,,this would be seasonal though,,,,,half the run is not usable right now, snow blows to much...

I don't know what they cost... but could you adopt/adapt dog igloos to work for it? I would cut an access door in the back/top of it for cleaning purposes, but otherwise it may be feasible?

If only Priscilla, my bantam cochin would go broody... or lay an egg!! :lau

I bought her to be my broody...
Ahhh she still has time to lay an egg yet.

All of the babies are adorable!!!
