Good job....Warning... graphic pics below!
So I get a call from DH saying he saw a critter on the web cam in the run under the sand box....
so I grab a couple of rat traps and head out to see what I can do.....
Notice to all furry critters who don't belong here....
MY RAT TRAPS HAVE TEETH!!
Dillon went from goof ball young fellow to totally serious farm dog in 2 seconds flat when I lifted the sandbox and he and Mindy scented the rat. It was over in seconds....
The shrew was in the wrong place at the wrong time....
The brick the rat and shrew are laid out on is 8"x4" x 2" thick...

Quote: Wing... does the farmhouse have internet? If so, then you can set up surveillance and view it over your computer. I got DH a set up for his birthday.... ours is more than what would be needed for just the coop, but we totalled 8 cameras watching house and coop, with a 1 TB DVR to record activity (can be set to record on motion detection). Coop cams are totally entertaining and we can check in over smart phones or any regular computer to see what is going on. He was just checking in to see what the birds were doing when he saw the rat sneaking out of it's hiding spot to snag some scratch seed. Timing is everything, I guess.
And the cameras also have pretty decent night vision.... but if you are setting up the system, spend the money to get the cameras with 650TVL or better resolution or the picture is really not too good.
Also, some home owner's insurance companies offer discounts if you have a surveillance system, though I don't know if they need to be 'monitored' by a professional company to qualify.
Good job....wonder if I can set up a long distance cam cheaply....it is 2.4 miles from the farm to home.![]()

That is a great option! I have a uniden baby cam set up we use in the coop for 'home viewing'... I don't think it had the smart phone app because they weren't common when we got the system, but newer systems almost all have it.
Anyone going to have turkey polts this year near Lebanon?
