This is my guess....see the pic preditor and prey....http://www.bear-tracker.com/bobcat.html

I of leaned that way, too. Probably a fetal cat (big one) since I'm pretty sure we don't have bobcats here, yet. I do see smaller cast tracks and it is breeding season, likely a big Tom. Or we now have Bobs to deal with to go with the fox, hawks, and occasional eagle.

We have bobcats in Northern York County ~ few, but we do have them.

Off topic, but you requested it. My Amaryllis have started to bloom! (These are nifty ones I got at our local Produce Junction for dirt cheap. They coat the bulbs in wax so that no water is necessary, and then they are forced. We'll see if I can save them after they bloom for next year...

Those are really neat and pretty! I have never seen them before!

Wood shavings really benefit from composting. You could dump them into a shallow pile (windrow) and then add to the top with every cleaning. The microbes will fix the N as they turn the shavings to humus, and the rest will leach slowly out to the surrounding vegetation.

What is the non-cleared acreage? Woods, fields or wetland? Any of those are perfect dumping grounds for your manure. Untilled ground is usually full of roots and they are hungry for the fertilizer. Just don't dump directly into water, too much gets released at once, better to let the rains leach it and the rest will compost nicely.
Dont Dump into wetlands!!!! Thats a big no no no! They are state and federal regulated as waters of the common wealth and of the United states. If someone knows its a wetland and reports you to either your conservation office or the state or federal agencies. You will either have to remove it or can get a fine. Espically for you forks living in Bog Turtle Counties. (Adams, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Cumberland, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Monore, Montgomery, Northampton, Schuykill, York.) They are a federally listed endangered species. If its a know site and you do anything to it, can be a huge mess! Wetlands act like a big filter for water before it gets into our streams and rivers, if you mess with them by adding manure you will mess with the water. If you add to much waste to an area the wetland wont be able to filter the area proberly. In turn you could raise waste levels in water killing aquatic life in that water body.

I know everyones thinks its a wet spot and i want to fill it because its wet all the time and just ugly. they really are important not only for our water but for our wildlife habits too! Put up some bird feeders and nesting boxes! Before you know it you will have a ton of birdies and other wildlife to enjoy!!

Please Please dont fill or dump in them!
