The first 11/32 have hatched. 3 more were drying in the bator when I headed to bed. Sounds like several more have joined them but kids are sleeping next to bators so no lights til morning. Most had already pipped & several were zipping.

awe!

That's adorable the kids sleeping by the bator. I did that for my first bath. This time the bator's on my nightstand! Me and my bed have an unbreakable bond :gig

They aren't trying to watch the hatch. The bators are just in their bedroom. They sleep through the peeping. I don't...lol They have had chicks hatching in their room for over a year straight now.

can chickens eat beans???

I know weird question, but I can not find anything on the subject,,,,I am talking about those little bags of dried beans at the grocery store,,,,,co worker asked if I wanted a box of them because they have little bugs in them (I never knew beans would draw bugs)

They are in the process of cleaning out a home of a deceased relative and fouind a stockpile of food that has become buggy,  they thought they would ask me if I wanted it before taking it to the dump, but I am cautious, since it sounds like mostly dried foods,,,they brought me in a bag of those dried split peas  for soup and it has those little black bugs in it...

so can the birds eat this stuff???

Mine eat everything...especially beans.

All I could find

and let me say that a search for chicken fart brought up some really strange stuff, really,,,,how does anyone get porn out of that combination..
Well thats a no brainer! BAWAHAHHAHHHAAA <laughing so hard the kids are looking at me like I have four heads>

Thanks, guess I am going today to pick up this box of buggy beans,

I have this image of really gassy birds....
Whatever you do, don't let the bugs get into your house. They are terribly hard to get rid of and they can infest all kinds of "meal" type foods. I got some once in a package of cereal and by the time I found them they were into everything. I had to dump the entire pantry of flours, meals, beans, grains, etc and wash it all down to keep them away. http://ento.psu.edu/extension/factsheets/cereal-and-pantry-pests

For my two cents, don't know whether you call them "Millers" or "Pantry Moths"...but had a major out break one season.....it you buy Pasta, flour or most other grain stuff(yes Quaker Oatmeal) ....their eggs are in there...lesson from mom, put any grain based stuff in the frig for 3+ days then put it in a closed container....

Sounds like good advice. I keep mine in tupperware containers now so that the outbreak is contained if I bring home something infested, but not showing beetles yet. I have not had a problem again. It amazed me that they chewed through the bags inside of boxes to get into the cereals...

Quote: I use the big glass mayonaisse jars that restaurants used to get, not sure if they are still available, but they work great for lots of things

even left over cereal,,,,,when the kids were young they would never finish a box of cereal so I would dump them all together, than they would eat it

no worries, that box will stay in the barn

I just reset all the mouse and rodent traps...............my big cage has not caught anything yet the peanut butter bait is gone............I realized I did not set it up well enough.............so lets hope who-ever is out there has gone in , eaten the PNB and now thinks it is safe! and now..........I have a better set up ( I hope) and he will be captured! Hahhhhahahaha!

Not sure what I will do with a live, caught , critter I despise...............but I still want to catch him and keep him away from my girls!

may it be tonite!

I find rats take awhile to catch, they are very aware of their environment and avoid anything new.

my new predator is people, how do I get rid of them??? really it is a country road just outside of town, and as the weather is starting to break, people seem to be parking at the end of the road and walking the loop, (we are on a bike route that forms a loop of a couple miles)....wouldn't mind so much but they seem to think it is ok to take a break and sit by the tree's in the front yard......I have a rooster that thinks he is a guard dog and will jump the fences if he see's them out there....
