I have 3 permanent runs. They are all situated on higher elevation and covered, this helps keep the mud down. I use spent hay, it's free for me and gives the chooks something to scratch around in, it 'catches' a lot of the droppings, so when I rake it out, I get a lot of the droppings too. The bottom 2 feet of our runs are hardware cloth, we also run chicken wire underground from the outside walls of the run 2 feet out and about 8 inches deep (to discourage predators from digging. I would recommend making a run tall enough for you to stand for cleaning and catching the birds..

this little one is a permanent broody, she just doesn't give up, she is just to small to set on many eggs


he stood like that the entire time that I was in the doorway,,,think maybe he wanted his pic taken.

this was her response to getting yelled at,,,she stood in the corner till I left

same nest boxes 20 minutes later,,, why do I bother


2 of the girls having a conversation, meanwhile.....


the boys went to the other side of the pen for a nap

awesome!

I got work done!

Cleaned the lower level, and the garage.
FINALLY got the chicks out of the closet and into the garage,
cleaned the big grow out and serama shed, and now I cant breathe
