has anyone on here ever eaten quail eggs or meat before?

if yes what was it like?

Quail is excellent! It has a flavor all it's own, we call it a "gamey" flavor. It's been close to 15 years since I've had it but that's how I remember it.

We have brahmas, (my husbands), D'Uccles, BLRW, bantam Cochins, seramas. We also have white midget turkeys, royal palm turkeys and ducks.

do you plan on selling any hatching eggs from those midget whites, I will take a dozen

I have always thought my 2 bigger boys were not bantam, they are about the size of the orpington hens,,,,now if only I had the hen's to go with them, I might actually like the silkies

I eat quail eggs daily, I pack them in my lunch for work, and quail are excellent on the grill,,think dark meat chicken.

Does anyone on the PA thread have a link or something that would help me get info for NPIP testing? I searched the PA Ag site... sent a request to them... searched through BYC... found a list for all states and contacted that person. Nothing. I searched this thread and found NPIP discussion but not how to find a tester, prep for the testing, cost, etc. Hope someone can help.

We got the coop cleaned yesterday!! Of course while cleaning it out I stepped on the rake and it whacked me right in the head. LOL But with the coop clean we can now build some rabbit cages in the other half of the coop and start our meat rabbit adventure. Can't wait!

Welcome to the Pa thread!

Actually there are a few regular posters here who are NPIP and some involved as CPTs... go back a few pages and you'll find a post someone put up about a class being held either central or eastern Pa for CPT and contact info for the person organizing it. It was posted last evening I think.

I am not NPIP, so I can't really help, but didn't want you to think there would be no response to your request....

Lots of great folks on this thread who can help you find just about any thing chicken related that you never thought you wanted! LOL.

Just curious what breed (s) you are thinking of getting. I just started, so no breeders yet. I'm starting with three primary breeds, with a trio of most.
