Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Tsc in york apparently has $1 silkies, New Hampshire reds, and red layer crosses. Straight run i think. Thought I'd pass it along. Kinda glad I work all day so I'm not tempted to get some silkies lol

One more chick hatched. Fluffy yellow one. She's still sitting so keeping my fingers crossed that a few more will hatch.

Awesome!! Looking forward to pics

Quote: I have looked at them and agree with GR Chicks... they are cute but too flimsy to survive exposure to weather... and I wouldn't expect them to survive a dog or coyote incursion either. You are better off with scratch built with pressure treated wood and heavy hardware cloth or chain link of some type.

HHmmmm.... I work a shift every other week or so in Plumville... have fished Keystone a few times and am regularly through Elderton for work or when going catfishing on the river through the summer.... will file this info away for future reference and chicken enabling purposes!
does anyone travel to DC on a regular basis, and would be willing to transport small hogs
I travel to southern Maryland once or twice a year to visit family... I go to Breezewood, then south. I will contact you before my trips to see if any line up for delivery needs. Can they travel in a dog crate?

I was afraid of that. I did get a quote for a coop for $750 without a run. Amish built. But would still have to build the run, so I think we'll suck it up and build it all. I am still leaning towards the Wichita/Lake Norman one since the TARDIS coop got vetoed by the boss.

Fisherlady, they are american guinea hogs, at 8 weeks they are about the size of a 2 liter soda bottle,,, found a good deal on some that are unregistered, been looking for a small size hog to raise, but those are mostly considered for pets which in turn raises the prices...

this liter leaves in may and the next one will be in the fall

here is the site with info
http://www.luckyclovermicrofarm.com/

they also have silver fox rabbits which I am interested in

Figure out your plans and then check for local 'handy man' type fellows on PennsWoods or Craig's list... ask around at work about handy men types. You would be amazed at how many of them may be around. If you have a decent plan drawn up you may get a few quotes and go from there. The Amish built are often OK, but around our neck of the woods their attention to detail isn't what I like and I think they trade on their reputation. They work quick to get from one job to the next but the last group I had do anything didn't come within 10 degrees of matching any angle cuts and square corners were pretty iffy also.
I realize it is a coop, but I still prefer details fit.... at least if you are paying someone else to do it and are paying for a professional product.
