Can anything else go wrong?
Our dream house we missed out on 3yrs ago is coming up for sale but next year. No idea if we can afford it either. We have to get out of this crap hole. We are running out of water every 2 days now. Well, not running out but there is an issue in the line that it keeps losing prime. I can't stand this stank old woman living with us anymore. Over 2.5yrs of her and I just can not tolerate her anymore. We need a 2nd car and can't afford one. My son is starting to be a real pain again (he is ADHD/ODD and hasn't had meds since last August thanks to the OHs leaving his job). He's been really good considering but the last couple weeks he's be a real a-hole. I am hoping it's a puberty induced issue but I can't tolerate him purposely hurting his sister anymore. Mom wants to sell her remaining horse now - they don't click and he's not a trail horse. They went for a ride yesterday and he was not well behaved. I want him, but I can't buy a horse right now. I have a little fiasco on eBay going on due to a non-paying buyer.

On top of all that... My mom called and my great grandfather is on borrowed time. I can't say for sure, but it seems like a month is a stretch for him. We are going tonight to see him. He won't be coming home like they planned. It's not good.

I need a mental vacation. I tossed and turned for hours last night and couldn't get to sleep because my mind is racing. I am honestly on the verge of some sort of break down.

Feels like April to me. Dreary, damp, chilly.

Put in asparagus and strawberries yesterday. Shoved a few fig cuttings in the ground, see what they do. My garden is a swamp, as is my whole property. Yeah, it's spring.
my strawberry and asparagus patch is on it's third year and I have never gotten anything from either, guess puttting them beside a chicken pen was not a good idea,,,,

damp dreary and muddy was the point, even with that, it feels like spring out there

I know at this point and time things can seem helpless, you gotta hang in there..

most of these are sold, but I have about 5 that are not tagged already,,,,,,these were never out on pasture or grass, but have been fed ferment for most of the time,,,,,,,,

may be a stupid question that I just have to experiment with but, I had an old amish guy tell me to give the meaties dairy in the last 2 weeks it will add to the meat flavoring,,,,,,has any one ever heard this.........

Wing:

I remember hearing about milk fed veal. And, I've heard of soaking chicken parts in milk before frying them...thats my two cents.....

Quote: this older amish guy is someone that we have dealt with for many years and sometimes I think he just likes to see what I might try,,,, I trade eggs for fresh milk with him..he likes his eggs but the wife dislikes chickens in the flower beds,,,personally I think he purposely put chickens in her flower beds, but anyway he is not allowed chickens anymore,,,so we do a trade.

Sorry to hear, 2014 hasn't been a good year for a lot of people I know. Not sure how old your son is but have you checked into the CHIP program for insurance? When I lost my job that had insurance we looked into that for our son, he has ADHD also. They will accept any child, regardless of how much money is made. We paid $50 a month but that's a lot better than his medicine costs. I've been trying to find a job that provides insurance, not easy!!

My hubby is talking about meat rabbits also but I want to try it first without having to actually process the animal. I just want to buy some rabbit meat. I can't find any here in the hinterboonies.

We just got some rabbits to breed for meat. I'm so excited, can't wait to put food in the freezer that we raised and cared for. I've never tried rabbit, all I've heard is it tastes like chicken (doesn't everything). My husband and grandparents like the meat though, so I'm sure I will. I'm not to picky, as long as it isn't tough.

Our chicken run is a swampy mess. Makes everything stink this time of year. Not good planning on our part, some of the water from the driveway runs into the coop area. Not sure how to get the smell away. We have our coop raised about 2 feet up so the chickens can go under there, I think that's where the stink is coming from. Anyone have any ideas to get rid of the stink? I keep my coop really clean but not sure what to do with this area under the coop. I'd love to close it off, but they are under there a lot to hide from predators, the sun or the rain.
