mmm... good idea again, trying it out ahead of time...Boy, I am running a little slow today, good grief...like molasses in the brain
...
Was going to do this in the fall also(freezing), it will help when the girls slow down in the colder months..will still have eggs for baking and such.
Let me know how you make out with this process also..please
I think my cuckoo marans hen is broody. She is in the box all low and won't move. She has been in the box and when I come in she usually moves out of the way complaining when I take the eggs. Today she wouldn't move, don't know if she is sitting on eggs or not. I need all the eggs I can get now, have some orders coming in for eating eggs lol.
Fisher, it is not lack of equipment for the record keeping, it is just laziness, I have huge 4 month dry erase boards and 2 smaller 1 month boards...I just never take the time to write on them......I am still the person taking the brown bag of papers to the accountant every year,,,he looks at me weird when I do this.... it has just never been top priority, but hubby thinks that it needs to move up on my priority line.
Stake, I do feed back the eggs from the layers, these are the pure eggs out of the breeding pens, somehow eating them seems like a waste.
CC, I have similar record keeping abilities, seems good at the time.
Fisher, I can not help it all I could think when you said the eggs are a healthy snack was, since when has cannibalism been considered a snack
I am thinking that is who I need to contact I just LOVE their egg color.... I would love to breed them, but I can't have a roo :-( well I might be able to, but I want to keep the neighbors happy!
More baby chicks! I think I see 8. One is a Rhodebar or RB mix from the pair I got from wingstone a month ago. The others are New Hampshires and more of the blue Bredas, those Bredas are so prolific we stopped setting eggs. If anyone wants some Bredas, either chicks or eggs, I bet I can get you a good deal. They are odd in that they have no combs, and still quite rare. I really want to pull these chicks out, but there are at least 2 eggs still pipped and I know I should leave them in there. The first out was late last night, so I know they are fine staying in there, I just wish they could come out and play. I tried to take a pic through the viewing window, but it didn't come out well at all, so this will have to suffice for now. It is from last week's hatch. That little splash Breda was watching the camera phone very intently!
Why did no one stop me...
I got all the eggs from the weekend buying spree...
Now keep in mind I have never had geese or even pictured geese eggs......where the #### am I gonna put these humungous things, I am playing tetris in the incubators as it is
