Stake, I am still blushing.

In the beginning, they will eat a lot more while their bodies adjust to the feed. Then you should see the feed bill be cut in half.

I do? I might. I have been doing it a long time.

So how many have plans for green dragon on Friday,,,,please,,,,,no enabling....I have no space for isolation pens right now.....and hubby will be there, so that helps...usually...

I will be the idiot with either colorful knee high waders on or bright neon green crocks,,,I have no extra shoes right now so it will have to be easily washable shoes....and barely moving due to bloat from eating to much, may just have to wear sweats.
Oh yeah...sure..NOW you go...not when I'm down to see ya

We want to do rabbits in the future, just not set up at the moment. I did score a free rabbit hutch last week. Needs some work but the bones of it is good. We are not sure if we can actually do the processing because they are cute furry critters.with the price of beef going through the roof we need to come up with another form of meat to raise lol

We really want to get into the Aquaponics this year and raise fresh tilapia and or shrimp. I would love to eat some shrimp that are as big as my hand or look like little lobsters. That's what we are trying to do. Since winter killed off our koi and our pond sprung a leak we are in the process of tearing it out and need to fill in a giant hole, deepest is over 6 feet deep and around 23 feet by i think it was 18 feet. It was nice while it lasted. So much work to do, so little time. lol What sounds better than fresh fruits and veggies and fresh fish? If we actually get it done I will update you.

All mean roosters immediately get a 1 way ticket to Camp Fridgedaire.

Sally has the FF links...LOL
yeah...funny, I was working my way over to the hatching thread to get it from her...I am putting it on my profile thing..whatever it is called

!!!!! That whole Aquaponics looks expensive and a little involved...but I guess once you get things set-up & going..then your pretty much self sufficient...I have only just skimmed info on this...I guess it is time to learn a bit more!

Oh Silkie he is going to freezer camp just wondering if he will be good to eat with all the hormones or wait it out a bit. I don't need him and I don't want to turn my back on him. Did that once as I was leaving and he came at me and I kept closing him in the door, didn't know he was stuck there. Teach him right the little ******* lol. So I guess we can process him whenever we get free time to do it from what I am hearing. I got a few straight run Black Australorps I'm sure I will get a rooster in the bunch I can replace him in the flock. Or I can hatch out a pretty GLW from my breeding group with the nice roo.

I do the same way she does only I use yeast now instead of UPACV.
because..yeast is cheaper?....Hey, speaking of...we have a farmer market here in town. He is very new and still getting items in that people ask for, well...I had asked about yeast and he came up with this...a pound of yeast for like $3.55... a POUND of it!! I was like...WOW

..it is vacuumed sealed in a block, it is Fleischmanns(sp?)...he must be able to order this stuff through a resturant / bakery thing...he is amish, maybe they are buying whole sale?..hmmm...

Hubby is really handy and figures out alot of things easy. We will build everything ourselves. We have a pond liner we can use and we torn down our pool, another casualty of winter. We want to see if we can use the parts for the aquaponics system. We will figure it out. Even if we start small with some herbs and strawberries to see how it goes, we will do something lol. We might just use the couple goldfish that survived and the 3 koi we got last week for free from craigslist. We shall see. It sounds like a good idea, never have to worry about watering the garden and no weeds!!!

Did anyone on here ever go to the Middleburg auction before to sell poultry. If so, what did you have to do? I heard all you have to do is fill out a paper that has your name and address....and then put your chickens in a cage and then auction them off. Is that it?
