LMP is that the Farmers Market in Renovo? I've been up there more often (and I just got another order for up there) lately than I've been in Williamsport! If it is worth stopping in, I may do so on Monday or Tuesday. Don't know my schedule yet.

I have a dog house in the yard. Dog has never been in it. Could I use it as a temp coop inside a run? Run would be easier to build and adapt to then building the coop later. I gotta get those babies out of my house!

YES!! ****They are only open Tuesdays 9am-1pm, Thursdays 9am-4:30pm & Saturday 8am-12 noon. Their hours will increase when the produce season starts. They have some things..like I said, he is just starting out...they had to re-vamp the whole building, but his prices are right. They have frozen meats..he is looking to get fresh in once a month soon. It is all his beef and such, it looks great, he sells a lot. My mother has bought a bit when she's been up. DH is looking into getting the fresh stuff when he starts selling it. He has dry goods, a little produce, but will have a lot more during the growing season....and they have a deli..oh, and homemade butter, amish yogurt ..things like that. I hope you make it up here soon, would love to meet you there!
Dog house looks like a very nice coop!

I think the dog house would work for you, but expect them to roost on the outside top as they grow. You could raise it up so they like to roost inside better, or you could accept that for now and put a tarp over that end of the run to protect them from the rain.

One word of caution about tarping, consider how the rain will lay on the top and try to add poles to let most of the rain drain off safely as it hits, otherwise it will weight the tarp down and possibly break your run other structures. Trying to heave a foot of accumulated water off a tarp is not something you will do more than once, you'll fix it after the first storm if you don't before.

Don't ask how I acquired that bit of good judgement . . .
yep-yep-yep...what he said

Anyone interested in a very pretty, purebred Black Ameracauna roo? I can't say if he's show quality, he came from Whitmore Farms where they breed for lots of pretty eggs as much or more than SOP. I bought 6 chicks last fall and ended up with only 1 pullet, so at least one roo needs to find a new home. I hate to free range him if someone could use him as a breeder.

That is how I buy my yeast- I make bread quite a bit, I have bought it at bjs 2 pounds per pack, around that price per pound :)
It is so expensive to buy it in the little packages...I am glad to hear this is a good price....thought it was, seeing how a 3pck is like...$1.75 and that is only what?...an ounce, maybe?...hahaha

I know someone who manages their 40 bird flock in dog igloos and a bit of engineering.....I'd think for young birds, they may do better off the ground,,,,,and you might need to make a door to knock down the wind...my two cents.....

Got my coop and run all set up. I just need to put wire on top of run. Put the girls in the coop all day and let them in the run when i got home.

Looks awesome!! Did you make the coop? cause if you did, I know I have a few projects just waiting & bunch of others on here that could use a good carpenter!
