Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

3 more chicks died today. I'm going to treat for coccidosis just in case. The only other thing I can think of is the cold, they are a month old and were inside until last Saturday. Maybe the damp cold has been too much for the weaker ones.

So, I haven't seen anyone else picking feathers at all but Cookie and now Daisy have small bald spots on their backs near their wings. I've found a few different colored feathers in the brooder and quite a few of them seem to be picking, scratching and itching themselves. Does that sound like mites to you guys? I sprinkled some of that powder stuff from TSC around in the shavings though I didn't put a lot in. I don't want to over do it. Any other suggestions?

If you have hatching problems, look up Sally Sunshine. She is the Mid wife.
Please pop in often, and share with us what you have, what you are getting, and what we can "help" you get ASAP! We will work on the extras later.

Check around their vent and under their wings to see if you can see any creepy crawlies. Mites usually go on the chickens at night but when they are infested with mites you can see them on the chickens.
