I have a friend with Champagne, she lives in Hamburg....close enough?

I would very much like to find a pedigreed doe! I have one, but another from a different breeder would be nice!

I'll shoot her a message to see if I can pass on her info....if I could remember her farm name,I could jut give you that...but brain not working.

Hi there,
My husband and I were thinking about going up to the Green Dragon next weekend for the poultry auction. Can you all give me the lowdown about it? How does it work? How many birds are usually there? Do they tend to be healthy? Do you typically isolate them from the rest of your flock and if so, for how long? Thank you!

I would love to know the same thing! I never been to a poultry auction before, but I definitely want to go soon!

Absolutely quarantine any birds you bring onto your property. I usually do 30 days but have heard all sorts of different time frames.

Okay, I'm overflowing with babies now. I didn't plan on keeping the poults for very long. Though I'd love to. I hatched them during the CDM hatchathon. I like asking on here before I list on craigslist. I have 2 black spanish poults, 1 sweetgrass, 1 mix and 3 bourbon reds. I have no idea on sexes. They are a week old. I'm located near Harrisburg and York.

And pics from tonight. They wouldn't stand still altogether

I had poults scattered all over the place lol

Separate her where she can see the others if you can. Give her electrolytes or spotrs drink with brown sugar added & antibiotics if she has any visible wounds. The electrolytes & sugar will help with shock. The antibiotics to ward off infection. If she pulls thru the next 24 hours then you only have to worry about infection after that.
I gave her Gatorade. The chicken hasn't moved all day and I give it water by dipping the beak in the Gatorade, she drinks it, then I lift her head up and she swallows. Definitely an interesting process... If the chicken doesn't die, I will start antibiotics, which I have in hand but have never used. Would it be safe to put it in the water that all the chickens use?
I would stick her in a crate or cage where she can still see the others & medicate her separate. That way you can monitor her intake & not give unnecessary meds to the others.

I want the girl!!! Just pack her up & send her on over. I still have bottles from my little buck from last summer. I love spoiling babies...even furry 4 legged ones...lol
