I got the notice mail... but didn't follow up on it yet. Will see how it treats me later. Wonder what was wrong that it wouldn't let you do it?

Hello everyone, I would like to take a moment from your regularly scheduled conversations. Haha.

First a little about me, I'm a college student that lives about an hour away from Pittsburgh. And that's about it really.

Now here's a question for you all. Would anyone be interested in a Button Quail or two? Long story short, I'm planning on buying Button Quail eggs around the start of next month. I will hatch them and hand raise/attempt to tame them. The problem is, I can only keep one or two. Clearly I can't make any promises that people will get birds now, but I don't want to do this if I can't find a home for the ones I can't keep. Whenever I do have the birds, they will be first come, first serve and free to a good home.

If you would be interested in getting even just one of these adorable little birds, please let me know so I can make my decision as to whether or not to do this!

Thank you for your time. You may now return to your conversations.

Good evening all:

Had the opportunity to visit Blarney today...met three of her kids (they are all really nice), met three baby blue eyed goats, met Bella(a wonderful pooch) and a plethora of feathered folk of all types....B's garden puts mine to shame and I hope she will save me a handful of tomato seeds from her heritage Italian tomatoes....Her turkeys are way kewl...some strutting and others gobbling back...and she has a couple of chooks of note....the biggest Orp roo ...12lbs, a pair of nice blrw's and a real stately Marans roo...there are a handful of grow out pens with all sorts of broodies/babies running around....

B:

Thanks for the invite....makes me think I need a few more acres,,,,,

How sweet are you! I enjoyed the visit, Tara gave me a hard time after you left for not picking your brain about the Hard Cider, she's like' 'ahhh Mom, isn't he the one that makes the awesome beverage?....well, did ya make any?'

Okay peeps, any bird cooling tips? It's so hot out there and while I was out running errands two of my girls jumped in and got stuck in the garden. I don't care that they snacked on and dug up a fair amount of the garden, but they were without water for maybe a few hours! :barnie

Of course I got them fresh water with ice right away and they seem okay now. But all my chooks are super hot. And yesterday they did not appreciate an occasional sprinkle with the garden hose for cooling...

We have our runs in the woods, with the exception of the meat birds who are under a tarp, we keep 2 liter bottles of water in the freezer and put them in the run with the meaties on extra hot days. Keep fresh water available always, I've read that chopping and freezing mint with water in ice cube trays is a great cooling treat for the chickies too.

Baby buttons are so cute, I don't blame you for wanting to hatch them. You might check with local pet shops to see if the would like them, they are awesome "scavengers" of the dropped seeds in cages with finches, canaries and parakeets. They may want them for themselves or to sell to their customers for that purpose.
