Anybody that lives in or around Lancaster could you please help? I want to take on family on a weekend trip to your area and would like to know some must see places. So far on my list is : Bird-in-Hand farmers market, The Green Dragon, Dutch Wonderland, and Strasburg Rail Road. Anything I am missing? Any recommend places to stay? Looking to go in about two weeks.

Wingstone ;-)

Depends on ages and interests, Amish country or non-amish attractions.
Strasburg is good, as is the museum across the street. It's easy to spend a day in that town.

Kitchen kettle for food and tourist stuff.

Yeah I pretty new to this. I'm looking for some layers that give big brown eggs and are also friendly. My kids want to be able to hold them every once and a while too. Any thoughts?

Chester Co howdy.....Opringtons and Wyandotes come to mind....it would be my limited experience that the more chicks are had hand raised in a brooder(lots of hands on)...the more friendly they will become....the downside is that if you have an existing flock, it takes longer to integrate the chicks into the flock when they get bigger.....

Golden Comets are supposed to be pretty sweet and they are good layers. Tractor Supply usually carries them in the spring.

Hello from Jefferson county, PA. I have officially successfully incubated 1 time and getting ready to start a second batch only guineas this time instead of chickens. My hatch rate was little to be desired but ash least some hatched! The second time around hopefully I'll have some better handle on things!

Welcome! Congrats on your first hatch, it never gets old!

We have ages from 4-40. I am very interested in Amish country, my kids not as much.

Please forgive me, it must be the summertime heat, or maybe just being exhausted from all the extra summer chores,,,,,, BUT......

I can not wait till the days of relaxing in front of the window and watching the snow fall while temporary bliss sets in, till I realize I must go out in that....
Maybe an evening with a nice big turkey cooking in the oven.

Anyone here in Kutztown Borough? I have a friend that wants to know if she's allowed to have chickens. I looked online in the borough ordinances and could find no references to chickens in an R-3 zoned residence. I told her to call the council and ask directly but thought maybe someone here would know.

Nothing quite like those frozen water dishes, muddy wet snow, shoveling, waiting for the plow so you can get home at midnight! Can't wait!

Almost forgot the frozen fingets from feeding and watering, miss that, too.

Just kidding. I actually love fall and winter. Something so peaceful about the snow muffling all the noise, although I do love the sounds on a late summer night.
