I thought about making a scene.? 20 year's ago I would have, but hubby already say's that I shouldn't be out alone since my mouth has no filter....

I probably did look rough under the circumstances..

I hope nobody gets hurt around me for a couple of days...my red hands will look guilty.
12 pints and 11 quarts of pickled beets should go for the winter.

That's a lot of work, and a lot of beets! you deserve a break and you sure didn't deserve a condescending idiot for a check out clerk! I would have made a minor scene.... yelling and posturing would just be lowering yourself to their ill bred mentality.... but a few well spoken facts would have had them crawling back under their rock! Pointing out that you aren't ashamed of the fact that you work hard for what you have would be a good start, asking immediately to see the store manager would be the second item!

Wing... I totally agree with sharron... some folks shouldn't be allowed to breed! I am so glad you walked out without the items... but I would take it one step further and file a complaint with the corporate office of the chain!! Incidents like yours will only stop when businesses realize that doing business in farming country means farmers and country folks may need to run to the store unexpectedly! Word of mouth is a powerful thing.
i agree, would also file a complaint with the manger of that store, manger might not like it that they lost a customer, maybe more when you tell your friends, i know i wouldn't won't to shop there

I really hope that works. It is for all the kilt wearing guys in this thread. Very sexy!

Hi Sharron, I use pesto sauce with tortellini or gnocchi because they are heavier pastas. The light, fresh pesto sauces compliment them well, but you could use pesto in other dishes as well. My favorite recipe is from Fabio Viviani and is: 3-4 cups packed basil leaves, 2 cups extra virgin olive oil, 1 cup pine nuts (or walnuts could be subbed), 5 cloves garlic (I hope you like garlic), salt, pepper, 1 and 1/2 cups romano or parmesan cheese. Combine all but the cheese in a food processor until mixed but still chunky. Add the cheese and pulse til combined (maybe two or three short pulses). Again the sauce can be frozen. Try it! It is a great way to get rid of all that basil. I envy you. I have terrible luck with basil.

I have a small pot of basil on the deck now that has been ok but I never get enough to make pesto.

But that is what the farmer's market is for.

better late than never. lol I never grow enough basil to make a big batch. :( I usually get bunches at the farmers market. You can also spread it on a panini-type sandwich of proscuitto, motzarella, tomato, pesto on french bread and fry panini style. (you could also use smoked ham for a cheaper version). enjoy
