Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

My first ever chick hatched this morning :) he/she started hatching last night but finished around 9-10am this morning! He/she is a Speckled Sussex rooster over a red sex link hen. Will be interesting to see what he/she grows up to look like. But as far as I can tell looks like a SS chick. What he looked like this morning at 7 when I went to bed. Was up all night with him making sure the membran didn't dry out. What I awoke to at 10 when I woke up. Running on 3 hrs of sleep from staying up with this guy, but so worth it :)
:love Precious!

Love the recent posts! Even when I'm too busy to post, I keep checking in cause I fit in with you not-normal folks.

My looking-to-sell-before-winter list includes salmon faverolles, narrigansett turkeys and maybe a couple scovy ducks. All hatched this summer, but are moved outside now.
Hello...."not-normal" folks...I thought we WERE the normal ones?!

Normal-----------------I think its just an average of the full range of people out there....................and we all know there are some of us that take things to extremes.....................but them if we statistically average this...................well I imagine many of us are not right in the middle of this ..................................distribution! Also if we all were very similar ...........all in the middle of the curve.............life could become rather boring..................I feel the diversity is often very interesting......................as long as we are not considering the sociopaths at those evil extremes..........that is one part we can all do without!

Just wanted to pop in and say howdy doody and I hope everyone is well! I've been so very busy as Henrietta Fowler the chicken keeper at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire! Hope to share pictures or a video sometime lol
I'm going to the Sharpsburg swap this Saturday instead of faire lol

Hello folks..................I am wondering if anyone on here is from the pittsburg area or nearby?

I am in the suburbs of philly but I know someone who lives in pittsburg and she may be starting with her chickens..............wondering if others might be nearby for her to have more local like minded people to check in with?

thanks in advance.

oh also she is looking to put a coop on the roof of a house................or maybe other places????? anyone with an old dog house or good leads on coops for just a few like 3 chickens or so?

thanks again

Same here! So much jarring happening! My tomatoes all came at the same time. Made salsa (3 kinds), 2 kinds of sauce, pizza sauce and lots of puree! We have tons of pears and apples. Think the apple press is coming out this weekend. Our little one has her cup ready as we are pressing the fruit. Just ordered a steamer juicer this morning so we can do more juice concentrate. Love being self sufficient!

I work with people that thinks it is funny to come inside and tell me my dinner is loose in the parking lot ( rabbit or ground hog). Wonder what they would do if I pull a shotgun out the back of the car and take my dinner with me.
Do It!!! :p
Normal is just a setting on the dishwasher.
Love it!
Good afternoon all: Had a visit from @AnneInTheBurbs today. Sorry she couldn't stay longer, but got to show off my crew (hiding under the bushes) and give her a few feed bags... My crew spent the entire day, until 5:00p under the bushes hiding from hawks...had one fly into my neighbor's yard around 11:00a....I chased it off....they are on the move and there are many of them....hope most move through before the leaves drop from the trees....
It was very nice to meet you. Thanks again for the bags, I will be sewing them up this weekend!
I have a funnier one somewhere that says something like, "I tried to be normal once. That was an awesome ride in the dryer!"
