I froze some eggs in an ice cube tray because I was thinking there would be a decline in egg laying by my girls this winter.

Today I wanted to move the eggs into a baggie..........but they were hard to get out of the tray .................so.........I left them a bit too long............I forgot they were out..............to defrost a bit

I got a few cubes out okay and put in the freezer  but the other defrosted quite a bit.............not entirely but maybe halfway.

Are they safe to refreeze or did I spoil them this way?

I know you cant thaw and then refreeze meat but what about eggs?

this is the first time I am doing this..............hate to get sick or die over frozen eggs..........

Refreeze them. They weren't room temperature, and even a room temperature egg is safe.
I think we are all forgetting that we lived through our mothers leaving meat to defrost on the counter all day long.

Hi all:

Watched the youtube on chicken feet...recipe looks doable but, I think I'd go for other chicken parts instead....I remember a food network show doing 'weird' Asian food and chicken feet were part of it...

for my two cents, just because you can stick it in your mouth doesn't mean you should....think the dog treat would be good...I'd smoke them in my smoker...(though I got a cow foot at TSC for the pooch and he just looked at me as if I was crazy).....

I agree on the dog treats... will be trying it I think....

and as for the cow hoof.... I made a mistake and bought one ONCE! The dog thought it was great... I sure didn't! It reeked to high heaven after it was chewed on for a while.

I don't know if it was just that particular one, or if they all do, but never again for me!

For those that try the dog treats, let me know how it goes... I can not judge from my daughter's dog, she eat' s anything, even her own poop.....
I seen lot's of way's to feed them to pet's after I googled it...it would be a doable treat...I could save them for someone , I get more than I can sell.

ok.... so, I have a problem.... I am pretty sure this is a rooster... it would be anywhere from 26-30 weeks.... i am frustrated, I originally bought 2 marans, had to return one due to it being a rooster, and now it looks like this is also a rooster.... I have had this chicken since 4-6 weeks ( i wasn't given the hatch date, so I don't know for sure) Any thoughts??? I am in a hard place because I CAN'T have a rooster crowing ( we live IN town), so frustrating I specifically bought a pullet, although i understand that nothing is 100% with chickens.... I will say that the only "crowing" heard was from 2 of my kids... I have yet to hear it... Ignore the looks of the pen...we are getting ready to build a new one....

Sorry, but yes that is a rooster and if it isn't crowing already you are lucky! Pointy hackle feathers and long and pointy saddle feathers = rooster

Shepherd's pie for dinner.
Problem is I have no ground beef, but I do have ground pork and ground chicken...what you think, maybe a combination of the two. With corn, green beans, and Lima beans. They are the only veggies hubby will eat

Ground pork probably has a bit of stronger flavor so it doesn't get 'lost' or overwhelmed by the other ingredients. I do love my chicken, but unless it is dark meat it can often get lost in a recipe. I don't know how much fat content is in your ground pork, but if need by you can add a bit of the ground chicken in to bulk up the meat quantity without getting to much fat/grease from the pork.

If the ground pork or chicken are home made and you didn't add fat to either then you may need to add some olive oil or butter to your recipe or it may be too dry... I know most ground meat is anywhere from 7%-20% fat, depending on what mix you buy.

I've made shepherds pie with venison, pork, ground turkey and beef. My family loves it. The turkey did tend to get lost a little but the rest worked out well. We do one base with meat and all the veggies and then a potato top for my hubby, mashed cauliflower top for me and dough top for my little one (she does not like white potatoes). I've also done a mashed sweet potato top for her and it was pretty good.
