where is the best place to buy my harder to find seeds,(like the artichoke).  they need to take paypal.
any suggesstions on starting them indoors, I never bothered I just always bought plants, but I think these might be hard to find around here..
may or may not work out, never know till I try...
Anne, I know this is going to sound odd,   I really dislike bacon

Not odd at all. Different strokes for different folks. ;)

I'm thinking pullet too. I guess we'll be able to tell better when she's dry. I was shocked at how fast she really zipped out of her shell. I did open the incubator once, really quick to slide her egg back a little. She seemed stuck teeing to get out since she was against some other eggs. I think the rhodebar will be out next. It's really trying to zip or right now. I just noticed that another rhodebar is now pipped and one of the Marans

Oh, I hope it's a pullet

Any of the Ameracaunas out yet? Still going with the theory that blue eggs hatch before the brown ones.

Try ebay (or Amazon, do they take Paypal?).

I am far from an Artichoke expert, but I think you may need to buy a plant, not seeds. I never tried to find 'choke seeds, let us know what you find.

you were right! I got home from my daughter's dance class (left at 4 got home at 7:30) and both the pipped ameraucanas are out lol. Looks like one blue and one splash :) CCL is looking more like a pullet now that she's drying off.

is it ok to let them stay in there stomping around like little godzillas all over the other eggs or should I move them out to the brooder?

Leave them in until tomorrow morning at least. I find that darkening the room, or putting something over the windows of the incubator causes them to sleep more.
Don't worry about them moving around the other eggs, I think it sort of encourages them to keep zipping.

sounds great. As soon as I get hubby off to work and the kids off to school, I'll get whoever is hatched out into the brooder :)

I look at the unhatched eggs to decide if I can open the incubator. If they are at the stage where they have pipped, but not started zipping, or zipped less than half way around the egg, there is grave danger for those chicks if the humidity drops from opening the incubator.

In any case, make it as quick as possible, and don't bother cleaning egg shells and such at this point.

ok. I just walked in and got to see the first BCM pop out of the shell :) I have the light off in there but they're in there peeping like crazy. I don't think they like the dark lol
