GOOD MORNING!!

Quote: i used to use delaware as a cross for meat birds....
the roosters can get quite mean, I never had a nice rooster in this breed, even some of the hen's could be kind of standoffish..
with that aside they are are a nice quick grower with larger breast than some others''
I use the cornish cross simply because I need to have a quick turnover of no more than 10 weeks since I order chicks ahead of time and need the space..i do not brood them they are put right into the pen with a light hung for only the first week.
i never keep these birds as warm as chicks, the light is kept high and temp under light is started at about 80. cornish will start to feather within 2 or days and will be quite a bit larger in just the first week.
i run meaties from march to nov...if raising in mostly july and august, I will sometimes go with the freedom rangers due to them holding up to extreme heat a little better but they also grow slower, takes me 12 weeks to get them up to size but they have more flavor also

GOOD MORNING!!

So cute!

now we know what you did while on the road..

:yuckyuck

Aurora: my parrot has a slight cross beak, we have it shaped a little but he eats just fine. I know he's a different type of bird, but they do get by. I'll try to post a pic later.

Stake, thanks for sharing that article. And thanks to Msladyhawk, I have a delightful pair of bantam Langshans. They are fabulous; excellent layers and my one has gone broody a few times (she's the one that hatched out chicks on Christmas.).

i do believe that one of us is hiding something today>>

Whose Birthday did we miss?

TROYER, the comment about the hot wire under the window had me cracking up!

I've got some Polish in the bator I'm hatching for a neighbor (Sara Sweatman). Looks like about 7 are developing, I'm really looking forward to seeing their puffy little heads!

This is some good reading, thanks.

Sitting in the Nuclear Medicine dept waiting for DDs first dose of radiation. Problems with incorrectly written scripts and misinformation are making this day much longer and harder than it already is. Feeling sooooo frustrated and P'd off.

Saying prayers that her radiation goes well and not feeling to poorly after.

Thanks :love. She's handling it like a champ so far.

Is there anything that can be done to either prevent or correct cross beak? It looks like my little splash ameraucana chick has it. Right now, it's very slight but if there's anything I can do to keep it from getting any worse or to correct it, I want to do it. She my favorite chick of the bunch!

I also need a couple extra opinions on a name for this little guy. He's the little Rhodebar cockerel that I had to help hatch. He's still smaller than the rest but he's feisty and energetic. I'm thinking either Rosco or Link (Zelda would be the little rhodebar pullet lol)

Wynter was relaxing in the living room today after his foot soak. I feel bad for him. When he chooses to walk (usually only to come to me when I have food) he stomps like his feet are made of plastic and don't move. The good news is, it seems like the super glue has plugged the hole in his crop. I'm only giving him scrambled eggs and yogurt for now and I'm not letting him gorge on it. Just a little at a time.
