Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

SilkieSensaton, how are you liking the warm Ohio weather? I'm afraid of returning to Pennsylvania in a few days!

First thunderstorm of the year just hit. What are you doing in Ohio? What part? You need to stop over if you're close to me!!!
I'm mostly moved into the new place. Coop repairs tomorrow so my poor birds can be let out of the cages.
Got my new cabinet incubator...a huge Leahy Redwood. I have 111 chicken eggs, 25 goose eggs, 3 turkey eggs & about 70 coturnix eggs in it right now. That fills just over half. Now I need more eggs. Who wants to help me fill it up? Looking for silkie, sizzle, showgirl, heavy dual purpose, turkens & anything with a peacomb (our weather is heck on combs). Heritage turkeys, peafowl & coturnix are also on the wish list.

I'm in Canton. If your profile is correct, we are about fifteen minutes apart. I leave in the morning. I'm here because I was sitting at home, crying all day and night since February. Losing my husband is gonna kill me.

I love having goose for christmas dinner.

I honestly have never eaten goose (or duck fot that matter). Is it good?

I hatch out a Brahma/marans cross that grows rather heavy. They taste good too lol.

I'm actually down by Cambridge now. I was up near Canton the last 2 days working on moving my stuff down here to the new place. PM me & let me know which way you are heading home. Maybe we can meet up before you go.

PM me if you have spare eggs. I may have something to swap for them.

I recently won an auction for some Ayam Cemani eggs....sure hope they hatch, I only got 6 and the air cells were a bit of a mess when they arrived. The good news is that they came with a dozen mystery eggs, some marked 'orp' some marked 'RB' rhode bar? And some unmarked....hmmmm

That is super exciting! Please keep us updated! I would love to have a few of these in the future! Was that an eBay auction? :D

It was a benefit auction on Facebook for a family whose house burned down. I don't know the family, but there were quite a few breeders donating high end eggs. I really didn't think I'd win the eggs, was just trying to up the bid... Now I really hope they hatch as they were not cheap.
Had given my nephew some eggs and an incubator to watch for an easter hatch. One chick was hatched and the kids were going outside to play. His 7yo didn't want the chick to be lonely, so he put a friend next to the incubator to keep it company.

That's adorable! I love how they think sometimes!

This is way too cute!

How did I miss this? Not sure what you're dealing with, but wishing you strength. Wish I could help.

My kids and I are waiting anxiously the arrival of our baby chicks. They left Polk Ohio yesterday and we are tracking them as the a move closer to central Pennsylvania. The brooder is set up and warm. The post office said the get 2 express shipments per day morning and afternoon. Expecting them this afternoon barring any problems. Hoping for no mortalities. Kids are soo excited.

:jumpy

At what age can I expect quail (cots) to start to lay? I'm anxiously awaiting quail eggs to increase my flock. They are at 7 weeks now and I know that's early, I'm just anxious.

As long as they are getting plenty of light they begin laying at 6-8 weeks...so any day now. Give them a little finely crushed oyster shell or egg shell to get them started.
