Hi!
Does anyone raise isabel cuckoo orpingtons in PA?
My grandmother has been raising chickens all her life and fell in love with a picture she saw of a Isabel cuckoo orpington. I would love to surprise her for her 70th birthday with chicks and since I have a broody hen right now it seems perfect! so i am looking for:

hatching eggs to ship this Tuesday on May 26 or that I can pick up before or on Friday (4-6 eggs)
or
Day old chicks to be shipped/ picked up around June 10 or June 19

thanks so much!

That is adorable... obviously this little boy and his hen are together a lot! Not often to see a bird that forward about wanting contact.... and the little boy is obviously very careful with his hen....cute to watch, if you go to their link they have a few more of them together.

I had an americuna from FlowerFairy that was that way....unfortunately a fox got her.....

Does any one know where I could get fence for my chicken pen for free or at a good price

Craigslist is my go to for cheap and free. To keep chickens in but not predator proof I generally use 2x4 welded wire. Not cheap, but relatively sturdy.
For a few birds you may want to look at used dog pens, they seem to work well for some people. Often around 10x10.

I've got some mut chicks down in lower bucks county if anyone is interested. Here's a pic of my tractor I started on today. Planning on doin a few small batches of red broilers instead of 30 at a time.

, you could call a fence company and see if they have removed fence laying around.

4x50 welded wire is under $40.

I used 50ft in a circle with pvc conduit as support, attached with zipties. $2 each 10ft piece.

the connectors are a few dollars.

It's not beautiful, but it is roomy. 198 sq ft. (you don't get that square footage when you build a rectangle or square!) and light to move...the space of a permanent pen that can move!

If I did it again, I would only use 2 rows of pvc Right now is housing 23 6wk old chicks. It was built as quarantine pen for 4 new hens over the winter.

I'll add a pic in a minute. Just in case you can use the idea or take it in another direction....
