I think you somehow have to shake it up. Run a piece of welded wire to cut the run in half? Give those naughty hens a roost (stick run between the welded wire), a cat litter box to lay in (or how many you need) and give the little ones the run of the good place. That will change things up! Let the big girls back to the good place one at a time. That will fix their wagons. If they are not able to do it free range.

Free range is good. Everyone goes back to their own houses until you decide to move them to the new coop, in the night.

Added: I do the free range thing also. it is very stress free. the two groups gradually hang out closer and closer of a few weeks, until one day..taa daa, all laying in the same chicken pile. :)
i love the ending of this post............one day............taa daa................all laying in one big chicken pile.....................this is what I am hoping for!

I wish I could free range them all the time...............but I need to go to work and when they are out for longer periods of time...................they start to widen their free range boundaries and begin to head over to the neighbors......................

I am in a suburb and dont really have that big of a yard...............plus its not really okay in my township...............................so I free range them in the yard when I am home and can go in and out periodically to check on them.

they are happiest this way.............and have not really wandered off too often...................only when I really havent checked in a long long time!

my little ones love to hang out under a certain bush.................and the older ones go all over yet have a few favorite spots.

I need them to live together with the open door of the coop going to the run.............

Today I had the little ones ( 4) and one big one in that shared space...............there was some hoopla but they managed.

I have to figure this out this week as I want to go away for a week and my chicken caregivers really will not let them free range because they feel they will not be able to get them back inside the coop................and if its not bedtime...............it is not always easy!

so I have some serious training to do! OR just let the strongest win? I will never be able to just let them get injured , if I can prevent it................minor scuffs...........okay............but life threatening battles.................cant do it.

husband says I finally lost it, first he caught me walking the soybean field with buckets..there's wheat in that field and he is gonna spray it this week......must get free wheat out of field.
than later he caught me sitting in the coop with momma and babies, i was helping her catch flies for the little one's..
I AM NOT CRAZY !!!

I don't see anything wrong with it. Sometimes if I can catch I moth I'll rip one of it's wings off and throw it to one of the babies. It's hilarious watching them play keepaway and it helps them learn how to catch fast/fluttering things.

It would seem to me that ya'll both are crazy...I'm glad I have company.

I expected my first doe to kid on Friday....STILL NO BABIES. This girl is so tired of me groping her....I think I'm traumatizing her, between me and my son we are out there hourly checking her ligaments. I don't know how I will ever get her to get in the milk stand after this. I'm trying to work outside so I can see and hear any changes, but with this heat....arrrrgh!

I think it's safe to say one of the turkeys is a tom, lol. I was trying to look at their snoods and I thought one looked like it might be a little bigger than the others. Then I come out this afternoon to see him all poofed up and strutting around! His neck was not bright red like that this morning either. I'm guessing that happened when he poofed up his feathers?

I have hens that do this, but typically it's the toms...especially at this age.

Think most of us are a bit nuts...lol

Goat question: How long is the gestation period? My 1 doe may have been bred when I got her the week before Easter. How long do I give her to make sure? She's definitely a lot fatter than she was when I got her, other than that I have no clue.

Did you know?
If you have two Apple devices (iPad/iPod/iPhone) you have a video baby monitor? It's in the apps. Great for when you only need it periodically or you are away from the house.

Finished my first tractor for my Moyer red broilers, never raised them before. Anyone else but from Moyer hatchery? I went with them to keep it local. I'm not an hour from them.

no babies yet. And I've gotta take my mother to the doctor tomorrow, what do you want to bet...

@Silkie, gestating is 150 days give to take 5 days, so like 5 months.
