Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

My $&@%ing neighbors cat got my one Marans chick. I am so ticked off, this is number three in two weeks. I tried to knock on her door, she doesn't even have a doorbell. I'm ready to sit out there with a BB gun now.

. Sorry guys, I was really looking forward to having a Maran in my flock even though I got it by mistake. Tonight I am going to try to talk to her again.

Edited to add the BB gun is for her cat, not her.

LOL....well I was hoping it was meant for the cat...I am sorry you lost your little one! And hun, I would sit out on my porch and wait for that **** cat! I have a feral that was hanging out around here....and we took a couple of pot shots at it with a pellet gun...don't think we ever hit it...but it scared the beejezuss out of it!!! (we put a steel garbage can lid up where it usually comes out of the woods and would hit that and it would jump like 3ft in the air and run) and we haven't seen hide nor hair of it since...A BB gun shot in the *** is not really going to hurt it persee, not saying it won't, just usually doesn't....Go for it Anne In The Burbs Oakley!!!! :)

I am so upset. One of my turkeys is gone. They usually roost on top of the chicken coop and then follow me back into their run when I feed them in the morning. We had an appointment this morning and I didn't have time to feed them before we left... I looked out and one was roosted on the porch railing, one on the coop, one on the turkey shelter and one on the rose of sharon bush in the chicken run. I figured I would feed them and put them away when we got home. Well... When I got home, there were only three turkeys. I fed them and let them back in their run. I looked for evidence of a struggle, lost feathers, etc. but found nothing. The other morning one of the turkeys was over in the far side of the yard 'playing' with a deer. Is it possible that my lost turkey is exploring our woods and will come back? I know the likeliest scenario was a predator, but I'm wondering if I can have any hope of her returning. They are bourbon reds so they fly well and are a little closer to wild than some other breeds. This totally messes up my plan... We wanted two for thanksgiving and two to keep for a breeding pair. If we only have three, I guess we'll just have to process them all and start over for breeding next year. The whole point of doing the bourbon reds was so we could breed them ourselves, but we need two turkeys for thanksiving :(

Hi there! Just registered for the site today. I used byc when I was figuring out if my family even wanted to get into this. I'm glad we did. We now have 2 gold laced cochin. 1 blue cochin snake got the other one first week outside due to my not realizing that hardware mesh was essential. 4 australorp and 2 silver laced Wyandotte. Just finished building the coop last week. 2 gold laced cochin roosters as well. Our flock is located in beaver county! Western pa

We are in Beaver County as well... Ohioville to be exact.

Could anyone recommend a good breeder in PA for good quality heritage Cornish (any color), Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks and Ameraucanas? I'm also interested in chocolate, blue or splash Orpingtons and blue or splash Marans (deep chocolate eggs). I'm also interested in a LF chocolate silver/or cream duckwing cockerel (no specific breed, it's for a project)

I may have to wait for next year, but want to know where to go when I can.

Thanks ahead of time,
Brenna

Hi and welcome from the Poconos to all the new people!!

Today I am so ticked off! Our tilapia bred and we had some little fry swimming around. Hubby wanted to give them more room and build an addition to the inside tank and ordered a pond liner off of Ebay. They were in there since this weekend and they were being poisoned by the pond liner he bought. We lost 2 and the others aren't looking so well. We lost all of the fry and all of the minnows and minnow fry as well. I was in tears this morning. I moved the survivors out to the koi pond and hoping they detox.

from montgomery county want to get started..not sure what breed or breeds i want but i want them to be good pets not very flighty and can lay eggs pretty well
As others have said, contact Dheltzel. He has beautiful birds!
AnneInTheBurbs This is the cockerel that you brought back to us. Unfortunately we will not be able to keep him. We have decided to move to Michigan probably sometime later this fall. I will only be taking approximately 40 chickens along and he just doesn't make the quality cut that we are looking for. He is available for $10 if someone wants a very friendly and tame rooster.
. Thanks for posting a picture of him. I understand you can only take so many with you, I'd take him if I had room. :)
Hey, the SSS rule can apply anywhere.

It's a bad day for the chicken peeps here. What a strange and terrible thing to happen. Hope it gets better :hugs

Wow...no kidding...talk about a wacky Wednesday......here's hoping the rest of the day goes better, missing turkeys come home, little fishes get detoxed, cats find out what happens when you mess with someone's chickens & tomorrow is a better day!!!
