Those of you that keep bees, what's your opinion on this? We want to get into bees but are trying to decide if this is the way to go or not.

I have seen that video before. Love the idea. My hubby is very allergic to bees now

I don't know about myself. I was stung by a bee in June and it still hasn't healed.

I've allllways wanted a blue copper marans. She's so super sweet too, I held her all morning and she didn't complain one bit.

Happy belated birthday. I didn't know Marans had feathered legs.

Some do, some don't. The American and french SOP call for feathered shanks. I believe the English standard calls for clean legs.

I don't have any personal experience, but we do plan to get into bees eventually and hubs has a friend that keeps bees. I've read that this style of hive is not very good for the bees because the combs are synthetic rather than made with natural beeswax. I think I have a link that explains the reasoning in depth on my home computer, but I am out of town until tomorrow night.

Thanks, I actually did read something about that. That's why I wanted some bee keeper opinions when we start out, we want to do it right lol
